  1. Hopefully the forecast will become a bit clearer tomorrow, as we all know, no forecaster can predict storms with any certainty. With no footy on the telly and the pleasure of Newcastle's No1 fan to keep me company I'll be heading for Foxhall after I've voted. Only my 3rd visit this season, but if the BSPA implement all these new ideas for next season then I'll become a regular again. I assume that Danny will parade his trophy before the meeting, not that he really feels like a Witches rider to me, more of a Bee than a Witch. Roll on next season!!
  2. I'd be very surprised if he did. Some don't bother when they're just reserves.
  3. Lawson found enough to go round barker in 13. From what I saw, if you were quick enough you could do it, inside or outside. Only my 2nd meeting of the season, reasonable night out, but will only go when nothing better to do.
  4. What was the crowd like last night? Good enough to pay for all those bonus points?
  5. At least they've done something to try and address the current problems. Now I'll certainly make the effort to go on Thursday.
  6. This is the big one for the Witches. If we have any aspirations to sneak into the top ten this season, this is a must win. Got better things to do than watch this shower on Saturday, but might make the effort next Thursday.
  7. Looks like I picked a good season to fall out of love with the sport, supported the Witches through thick and thin for decades, but doubt I'll see many meetings this season. Been mentioned before, but who the hell do you get rid off, they all appear to have the odd good meeting in them, but far too many bad ones. One more thing, last season some of you lot were blaming Phil for the teams performances, why aren't the same people blaming RH?
  8. My first meeting of the season. Someone (far more knowledgeable about the sport than me) said to me at the start of season "I can only see 3 worse teams than us, we might scrape into the top ten", watching that lot tonight, I think he could be right. It's OK us hearing "when they all click", but how often is that going to happen?
  9. I'd rather have no meeting on a Thursday than clash with the EL and lose half our riders. CL has done everything he can to avoid clashes, giving up the Bank Holidays must have been hard, but he put the team first. Originally i was happy about restricting the doubling up riders, but if we come out of the EU, half of the Europeans wouldn't get a work permit, then we'd end up with about 4 riders per team.
  10. With no wind about it looks like the forecast wont change much. Shame, as I'm like many others these days, I wont go near a Speedway track if there's a threat of rain. I'll get home from Footy at 17-30 and make a decision then.
  11. If Lewis rides anything like he did against when the Diamonds came down in June, I'll be very happy, he was brilliant that night. Happy with the 1-7. Is there any news on where Cam and Rohan are likely to end up? Must have been a big track with large sweeping bends then, he's not the smoothest when it comes to turning left on most British tracks. And there certainly appeared to be a motivational problem with him, maybe we were paying him too much, then he only had to do it when he fancied it.
  12. I'm fairly sure CL has his 7 in mind, as do most other promoters. But if I was a rider I wouldn't sign until Glasgow have completed their team. It's only a short career, and you'd be a fool to turn down the sort of money they're paying. The word on the grassbanks of Mildura the other night was, Berwick thought Richie Worrall would be there, until Glasgow came along with £50 a point more than they offered, can't turn that down.
  13. I'm sure the promoter will be happy with the crowd of 26,000+, but next year they should let more of the expensive seats available. I spoke to fans who wanted to sit on the middle tier, but the website said it was sold out, but they only sold tickets to the public for half of it, the other half (which was almost empty) was just for corporate and other groups. Anybody thinking of going next year, buy the cheapest on the day, and sit where you like. This also applies to most of these large stadiums that stage gp's. I paid 49 dollars but no one stopped sitting up top where the price was double that. For those on a budget (like me), it can be done for a reasonable price. I'm out here for two weeks, 2 speedway, 6 soccer, 2/3 cricket, 6 internal flights, 2 buses, 1 train, all accommodation and transfers will easily be done for under £1,500 it would have been £200 less had I known about the meeting today earlier, but the flight to Perth this morning put the price up a bit, never mind, just hope I see a good game.
  14. As Bruv said, Swedes ride on a Thursday, and as much I liked Lasse, it did get on my wit when he missed meetings to practice on a Thursday for Danish U21 meetings on the Friday. So CL went in the right direction to get 2 Aussies and a Yank, they put you first (except World U21), just none of them lived up to expectations. But I'm sure he'll put together another good side, some of the pundits will say we're favourites for the title, and then certain riders will have an awful season and their average will drop by a point or 2. After a few years of optimism at the start of a season, I'm going the other way next season, I'll assume all our riders will drop their average, and hope for the best.
  15. No need for answers on a postcard, we've all seen him fly around big tracks, he justs struggles turning left on smaller ones. His fast bikes and his gating means he gets his fair share of points, but he still gets halfway round a bend and then has to yank the bike to get out of it sometimes. He also sometimes ends up in a heap if he tries a big swoop, after all this time he just doesn't look a natural on the smaller tracks.
  16. I'd imagine CL does most of that, but I think the sponsorship we get is as good as most teams. Sackers, Seven Asset provide good deals, plus all meetings appear to be sponsored. It cant be easy to get companies to part with their money when there's only 700-1000 people there, so how on earth clubs that struggle to get 600 get on, I don't know
  17. Hopefully CL will run it for another year or two, can't imagine anybody else wanting to take over. It was mentioned through the season about how many tracks really struggled with attendances this season, obviously down to all the usual problems that have been stated on here numerous times before. So guessing at teams for next season is pointless, I'd be very surprised if cost cutting wasn't top of the agenda, let's face it, Speedway never looks at the good guys who run things properly and break even or make a profit, they feel sorry for the little boys and drag the rest down to their level. As for next season, I'll wait until the AGM, but as all others have mentioned, no Rohan until he learns how to control a bike when turning left, would also love 7 riders that can ride a grippy track, but there's not much chance of that.
  18. Fully agree Shads, those were the 2 meeting where we blew it, trust Cookie to have his only bad meeting at Foxhall when it mattered. At least I'll save a few bob over the coming weeks.
  19. Injury to Jakobsen was the deciding factor, but as Bash says, a bit naughty of Rye not to try.
  20. People keep going on about "in form" Plymouth, but since July 1st the only away win has been that freak result at Somerset, failing to get a point at Redcar and Scunny doesn't suggest to me that they are an "in form" side, maybe just better than they usually are at home. So us Ippo fans should be fairly confident of a couple more meetings, come on you Rockets,
  21. I'm sure our 2016 thread will be on here before the Weekend is out, Balders must be chomping at the bit to get it started. Looking at the opposition Plymouth have got to face, It's not looking good. As for our final meeting, obviously just the 16 lapper, most Premier league promoters have struggled to break even this season with proper meetings, so there's no chance of a gimmick meeting attracting a crowd.
  22. Totally agree, fans are just getting fed up with Speedway and It's silly rules. They don't like the fact that our No 1 rides for someone else sometimes, the club would probably be dead had it stayed in the other league. Every year we've put together a decent side, but certain riders haven't lived up to expectations. Certainly not about money either, we've gone out and got the best "available" No 1 for the past 3 seasons, also persuaded young Aussies (which I'm sure others wanted) to come to us. But sadly Rohan, Gino and Cam haven't progressed, injuries to Cam and Gino have certainly slowed their progress, or maybe (like many other riders) they get so far, and that is that.
  23. Some changes? We all know what speedway does when there's clubs losing money, they dilute the sport even more and that drives more fans away!!
  24. I doubt you'll get many arguments there. But they had decided to have this competition done early this season, but the Northern group didn't get finished on time, and as usual in this hapless sport, nobody did anything about it. When I asked why we had a blank week 3 Months ago, I was told it was reserved for the league cup semi's. But only CL and the menial promoters and most supporters wanted this, so it had no chance from the start, well certainly not under the current regime.
