29.04.2022 League: Scunny v Plymouth
tellboy replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Maybe he had concerns about being paid for a large chunk of the season as opposed to a couple of matches.Would expect he would get paid pretty quickly for guesting or he wouldn't bother to guest again. -
King's Lynn v Ipswich. League Cup 25/4/22
tellboy replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It'll be alright. Should be a home win now,but you just never know, especially where Lynn are concerned. Managed to get a shift swap from Thursday evenings to Wednesday evenings permanently now.You watch next season we will revert back to a Wednesday night, that's just my luck with supporting the Stars. -

Well we dug out a win there.Strength in depth pulled us through there, even with a few riders not at their best. But the last 5 races really bought the meeting alive.Ht 15 was awesome. When Ostergaard gated and Harris was at the back i thought it was game over for the Stars. Then Harris got into 3rd you thought a 1-5 was on the cards, but Pickering's absolutely astonishing ride got the crowd to their feet(i know most of them are anyway)and then NKI followed through for a 5-1.It was crazy i lost Pickering he went that wide and low i couldn't see him on bend 2.As an old friend said he hasn't seen that since the Henka days. My thanks goes to Sheffield for releasing Pickering because the numbers didn't fit.I know speedway is a numbers game, but it is also an entertainment game and boy does Pickering fit the entertainment game side.I would take him every day of the week with his entertainment, enthusiasm and his willingness to team ride over the number side of the sport. -

I wasn't going to go tonight, but i got the buzz back after Monday. With the highs, lows, controversy and then elation at the end of the meeting it gave me a buzz coming from the stadium with my mates. It does obviously help if you win.The only thing missing was a little dust up between a couple of riders.Managed to get someone to cover my shift at late notice, although i am going in Friday night to re-coup my wage.Friday night ffs.Hope the meeting more than makes up for that -
Couldn't agree more.If Belle Vue can do it,then so should the other 5 teams be allowed.Mind you the way it is for Lynn at the moment they may have to do the same. It's the will he won't he ride with KIldemand at the moment.Although he is out for 10 days at least now.

Blimey give the lad a chance,he has only been in the top league for a season. -
I'm sure he said on Monday he was only available until May 1st.If you put a very lucrative sponsorship to him though Bagpuss he could well be tempted

I didn't think he would last neither Bald Bloke, but i thought it would be through injury not because he can't be asked. -

Who know's,Alex Brady is unsure himself when i listened to the podcast last week. -
I have known a champions league match to be held up for 45 minutes before.A crash on the motorway held thousands up so they delayed the KO
-
Don't they do a track walk to get an idea of how the track may ride? A fair result, the Stars definitely deserved that one. Imo ht 11 should have stood after the first race, but i do agree with Brady in that it should have been re-run if Horley was on the ball and put the red lights on during the race to order a re-run.To do it after the race is just wrong. If she couldn't see the tapes from where she was maybe she should have gone with starting from the red and green lights.Don't think she even saw the massive jump in ht 3 from Kerr,or at least i didn't hear anything over the tannoy as that was pretty poor on bend 2. The Iversen thing in ht 13,i maybe wrong but there is something in the back of my mind saying that rule was scrapped a year or two ago.

I knew a rider doing this 20 years ago,it gives them a better chance of getting a team place the following season, plus they don't lose any wages.Happy days.

I heard the podcast too.Doesn't sound too convincing that Kildemamd will come.He is telling Brady he isn't fit when he clearly is.

This is one of the reasons i am peed of with the decision to postpone over 24hrs before the match was due to take place. The forecast wasn't too bad yesterday, but as we all know come the day the forecast can be totally different. As you have stated the forecast has changed to 80/90% chance of rain showers.Who knows, the forecast could quite easily have been the other way round this morning and say 10/20% chance of rain.I'm all for calling early, but the day before don't sit right with me,unless of course they had days of rain beforehand that is then understandable. Incidentally i am 9 miles away as the crow flies and we have had a few very light showers, and 1 heavy-ish one but it is bone dry here.So i think they have got very lucky with the call off at the moment. That is the nature of showers i suppose. For the first time since i have been driving(36 years)i may choose to miss the re-staging as i can't keep throwing money away like i do for my love of speedway.I have missed meeting's before but not through choice.I have even come straight from hospital on 2 occasions to watch the Stars.I certainly won't be doing that anymore. -

I will definitely lose £90 today, that's 4 meetings worth. We have had a few problems, but we have always managed to keep the works vans full of diesel . That's 8 vans at between £50-£90 a day -

But if that was the case why don't they just come out and say that was the case.Would make things more believable than the weather report as it stands. -

But now the re-arrangement is 4 days after the one on the 21st,this too will put fans off imo. -

Absolute piss take imo.Yes there are meant to be some showers about tomorrow, but there was meant to be plenty of rain here today in Wisbech and all we had was a couple of showers. As i work Thursday evenings i gave my shift away to another colleague. So i have now chucked £90 away because it may rain tomorrow.I could understand if the forecast was atrocious but it isn't according to the Met office and accu weather. The Bbc has more showers but they are often wrong. It's got me thinking going forward,do i ask people to cover my shifts on Thursdays or not now.I mean they have called this one off with over 24hrs to go because we may get some rain.Let's be honest we live in the UK,there's a bloody chance every day of some rain. Are they trying to piss fans off and drive them away from the sport.I love going to Lynn to watch my speedway, the team has been in my blood since the 70's.I would always try to get someone to cover my shift but i can't keep knocking back a wage just in case of a suspect cloud could be heading our way.Well i will be there on the 25th,but on the 21st who knows. It wouldn't have bothered me about 2 meetings in 4 days,in fact i would have been over the moon. Now though i have a decision to make, the long range forecast has to be pretty much wall to wall sunshine for me to risk asking someone to do my shift and losing £90.
