It's going from bad to worse if that's possible. 3 points would now seem to be unlikely. 2 points is a more realistic result but 0 points is now a distinct possibility. Bjerre's rides may be taken by Karlsson, Doolan, Graversen and a reserve so they will do well to score 6 which is below that expected from Bjerre.

A more than an 10 point home win is required by Sheffield to take them through to the semi-finals. A 10 point home win will leave both teams exactly level on both match points and on for and against race points. If Leicester can win or avoid defeat by more than 9 points then it will be Leicester who go forward to the semi finals.

Interestingly though on current form at the end of last season he was the 3rd best rider in the National League behind only Adam Roynon & Charles Wright. Let's hope that he brings some of this form into the Premier League this season. Personally I hope he does and I wish him well. -

I tend to agree. I think that we have a good team at present which has a chance of finishing in the top 6 again but with Lewis Kerr at reserve I think we could do even better. -

Thank you very much for your help. My understanding was that the site was to have been developed in conjunction with Leicester City Council but sometime during last season they said that they could no longer afford to be a partner in the planned projects. They even asked if the speedway company would like to expand the site for themselves but as you know this would all require a considerable amount of money which has not yet been obtained or provided. I agree the site is an eyesore and must be at least made presentable before any further Elite League ambitions are entertained. -
No More Semi-final Gate Picks

It is an easy task for anyone to calculate the total number of points scored from each gate during the first 20 heats and then allocate the ones with the most points to the highest scoring riders etc. -

Leicester's starting team average will be 41.84 which includes a 3 for Lewis Blackbird. I think it will be unlikely that KN, KD & JG will significantly increase their averages if at all and LB, AR & SN may up theirs by a combined 2 or so which will only be maintained if LB achieves his 3. -

But it might still be the same result if any current BEL member club says if they join then we are out as may be be the case this time if the rumours are to be believed. -

I realize this SCB but many on here have already told me that it is not always a question of how much has a rider improved his average by but by how much he has improved his all round game. Linus Eklof did well when he rode for Berwick but since then he obviously went downhill because he did poorly for Belle Vue earlier this season and needed to start again which I think he did by upping his more recent converted BPL average by a considerable margin which I just thought would have have earned him more than just 1% of the vote. -
As this is the last time I will be issuing a list in this topic during 2012 I hereby list the top 20 best performing National League riders based on their own personal most current 10 meaningful matches as follows 01-Adam Roynon-Dudley 02-Lewis Blackbird-Mildenhall 03-Tom Perry-Dudley 04-Cameron Heeps-Mildenhall 05-Jason Garrity-Rye House 06-Joe Jacobs-Mildenhall 07-Ashley Morris-Dudley 08-Ashley Birks-Stoke 09-Gary Irving-Scunthorpe 10-Stefan Neilsen-Mildenhall 11-Robert Branford-Buxton 12-Lewis Kerr-King's Lynn 13-Byron Bekker-Dudley 14-James Sargeant-Rye House 15-Paul Starke-Isle Of Wight 16-James Cockle-Stoke 17-Ben Morley-Rye House 18-Daniel Halsey-Mildenhall 19-Tony Atkin-Stoke 20-Jake Knight-King's Lynn Charles Wright & Simon Lambert would have both featured in the top 5 but they did not achieve the 10 meetings required.

Didn't want to start a new topic for this so I hope that you will forgive me for using it to make a comment on Jan Graversen's award at the club's annual dinner dance and presentation night for the 2012 team's most improved rider when he ended the season with a small average increase of just 6.97% compared to Linus Eklof's massive 58.37%. Jan started the season on 4.59 and finished it on 4.91. Linus' most current stint prior to joining Leicester was for Belle Vue in the Elite League where he scored 24 points from 39 rides which is an average of 2.46 which when increased by the mandatory 60% meant that he started with Leicester on a real average of 3.94. He achieved an average of 6.24 with the Lions which I felt should have got him more than just 1% of the vote for most improved rider. Jan is by a mile the team's most popular and is no doubt many people's favourite but not the most improved. Incidentally captain Kauko Nieminen up his average by more also. -

How about 4-3-2-1 in the semis and 8-6-4-2 in the final -
I have stated before and I will offer it again that I think it would be interesting if after each GP the bottom 5 riders stand down for each subsequent GP. Initially GP2 to consist of the other 10 riders plus riders 4,5,6,7 & 8 from the Challenge Event. GP3 would then comprise the top 10 from GP2 plus the 5 who dropped out from GP1. This would then ensure that a pool of 20 riders are used during the season.

I think it is agreed then that something needs to be done

Promoters. At your forthcoming conference, would you please take out some time to discuss improving the current starting procedures which are in my humble opinion causing annoying delays and severe aggravation among many paying spectators. May I suggest that you instruct referees to put on the green light (to be switched off before the actual start) after allowing a fair and reasonable time for the riders to prepare, which then indicates to the starting marshall that he is to get into position with his arms out, which in turn indicates to the riders that they must then line up in their starting positions. Riders not co-operating to the referee's satisfaction to be warned and/or fined after the race has been completed. This would then avoid all the aggravating pettyness and delays caused by riders and some starting marshalls when trying to get riders up to the tapes. I would also suggest that referees be instructed to put on the 2 minutes warning immediately after any false start.
