World Cup Final

If the Joker is to be allowed it must be available to all teams and if a team has not had the opportunity to play it then their last rider's points should be doubled. This is not the first time a team has lost to a team that had played it's joker but they had not been allowed to. -

No, you are 100% correct. We have only one world class rider who is a product of Australia's junior riders programme who thankfully elected to become a Brit when he could have opted to be an Aussie for international purposes. Some serious policy changes have to be put into place if we are ever to become a leading speedway nation again which the promoter's who run the sport will not see as their main priority because of their financial involvements. -
The Real League Table

As you all know I base my tables on the difference between away points gained less any home points lost which also I can assure you always ends up being exactly the same as the end of season real table and on this basis the current positions are as follows:- 01-Workington+11 02-Ipswich+11 03-Newcastle+11 04-Edinbugh+10 05-Redcar+8 06-Somerset+5 07-Leicester+5 08-Plymouth-4 09-Berwick-7 10-Rye House-7 11-Scunthorpe-8 12-Sheffield-9 13-Glasgow-16 It would therefore seem that the playoff pack now has 7 teams fighting it out for the 6 places. -
My current National League Table is now as follows:- 01-Coventry+9 02-Mildenhall+7 03-King's Lynn+1 04-Dudley+0 05-Isle Of Wight-1 06-Buxton-3 07-Stoke-3 08-Kent-6

Barrow Boy's Top 10 Riders

But it is easier to score points in heats 2-8-14 and harder in heats 13 & 15. Everyone should appreciate that surely and if a reserve does good in any heats other than 2-8-14 then the points gained are quite rightly credited to him. I do not feel that I have just simply made it up to suit the better riders but have tried to be fairer to those who are constantly competing in the harder races. It is based on current form by using each rider's most recent 10 matches and Cameron Heep's current last 10 matches have achieved a ranking average of over 2 points less than the rider in 10th place. I acknowledge that he is currently performing 2 points better than his BSPA GSRA and is therefore on the way up and who knows he may one day actually be in my top 10 but only if he rides in the main body of Ipswich's team and beats some of the league's better riders on a regular basis. -

You thought wrong then but it would be a good team if it was wouldn't it. My current top 10 are now as follows:- 01-Craig Cook-Edinburgh 02-Ben Barker-Ipswich 03-Ritchie Worrall-Newcastle 04-Richard Lawson-Workington 05-Jason Doyle-Somerset 06-Joe Screen-Glasgow 07-Stuart Robson-Newcastle 08-Micky Dyer-Redcar 09-Theo Pijper-Edinburgh 10-Edward Kennett-Berwick 2 other riders who are currently injured and out of action, Simon Stead & Oliver Allen would have been included had they been currently riding. Funny how Craig Cook keeps coming out first then. Good point. I keep them in until I'm sure they are going to be out for a while. I explained this last season. I have a spread sheet that takes into account the difficulties of each race. Points scored in heats 2-8-14 do not earn riders as much as in the other heats and points scored in heats 13 & 15 carry a higher value. Also riders not scoring in heats 13 & 15 are not penalised because of their high difficulty rating. -

Leicester Lions 2013
barrow boy replied to Honey Monster's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Adam Roynon was far from fit enough to start the season and is unlikely to be any different if he comes back. He will also be 2 months behind everyone else. I think it would be better for Leicester and safer for Adam to keep Magnus Karlsson until Adam can safely be relied upon to perform at the level required. -
I agree in that it is the actual shape that is the problem. The distance across the track between the straights is too narrow but and as a result the bends are too tight for a track of 317m. I understand that when it was built the rest of the land was earmarked by the planners for non speedway use therefore the actual stadium was built on the bit that was left. Subsequently however I further understand that the council then decided not to use the rest of the land and asked Leicester Speedway if they could make use of it themselves but by then of course it was too late. What can be done now I do not know but it would be nice if a small committee of say some senior riders and track guru's such as Colin Meredith and maybe someone like Tony Steele could be formed to discuss the problem.

And making it more difficult will be something that Redcar have and Leicester don't in a high scoring reserve who can be used in 3 additional races.
