i think Phil sang better than Peter.. " i can feel it, coming in the air at night,.. oh lord.." "Physical touch", great,.. also he proved he can act better, saw him in the movie Buster..i do think he got a bit big headed when Genisis hit it big. To do all that, and fit a bike with such style as he did, he got i vote mon..

It struck me while watching a re-run of Cardiff how well the riders presented themselves and how well spoken they all were in their interviews. The degree of professionalism shown with regards to equiptment, kevlars, colourful paint schemes on helmets, etc, is splendid. Keep it up men!

and from what i hear, Demon, as was his nickname, was an extremely pleasant fellow in real life....

would agree, Broadie, Carter, Wilson, Gresham and Guggi. However Henny and Arnold were actually quite civilised.

Chris was a man who was exciting to watch, and one of the legendary characters. He was the perfect Skipper for Belle Vue, one of the best ever in that clubs illustrious history. It was thoughtful for you to post this, and will bring some closure to his fans, like me. God Bless you Chris Pusey.. May you rest in peace.

The only vid I have that fits the description comes from the 77 BLRC at Belle Vue, not good quality and foreign format, but man what a meeting and what a track. It even had that four letter word thrown into the equation,... Dirt!!! Mike Lee and PC scraping the fence, Ole trying to fence Ivan Mauger, and Gordon Kennett doing a great job..The reason I can view it is I have a multi system vcr and monitor. Oh yeah, and Dave Lanning commentating too! I think the Penhall and Carter battle from LA in 82 is pretty easy to get? Good Luck..
-
all i can say is Mauger would have won the Grand Prix this year had he been as close as Tony was. having said that, age and outdated equiptment would have made it a wee bit tougher for him.. i also reckon Ivan, in the Elite League racing against the current batch of racers, would have fared with an 8 or 8+ average....... Main reason being of course is he is in his sixties!!!!! . Is it just me????
-
Hey Wes, dont take it personal, but think you are totally wrong. Tony has the make up to be as great, but Mauger was the original hard case psyco, tempered with extremely high intelligence and determination. Until Tony, all due respect, knows what it is like to clean the showers out at a speedway track for the chance for a second half ride, and then become multi champ thru determination without a lot of natural ability, then i will agree, so until then, shoot, get outta town! Go get in the truck! All of this is said with greatest due respect to the great Swede. Weslakes were underpowered dude, but i will admit it is rumoured they had good torque..

thus spake zaranthustra.. 8) flies in the market place ;-) ahhh, an educated man, merlin, my hero... ;-) sorry for the spelling..

wully was pretty tough too. george hunter in the day.. man wish i coulda seen the 50's and 60's. went down hill after the peak. still great sport mind you, but half of the riders from the 70's thru today wouldnt have stood up to the hard cases from then. ahhhh. deep tracks, working class following with working class racers, deep tracks and forty horsepower with 22" tyres. Notice i didnt mention big handlebars.. and all the fights.. in those days no one stepped in to stop em.. oh well back to reality, thanks Merlin for the memory.. 8)

much appreciated, never too old to smoke one is what i always say! All joking aside, you very likely saw the sport at its best. Templeton bros, hard cases. The standard of the way it used to be..
-
Dude that one is easy,.... no home track advantage, found religion... See I am not so dumb.. Did I win a prize?

hey falcace, was really saddened to find out Chris passed away last year at 51. i never did find out how except long illness. Speedway can be cruel to its former heroes. he was so full of bravado and life, and it just, well,, really is sad. it sickens me, i think his whole lifes ambition was to be Captain of Belle Vue. He was old school, him and Wilkie both. Ah, but some good memories left behind which is more than some of us can say. We miss ya Chris..

also I might add a bit sexist dude, Jah Rules.. 8)
