  1. Maybe I am missing some peculiarity with speedway or sport in general but how can they do this? How can you deny the opportunity to go an earn a living in another country when you cant offer the same opportunities in your own country? I could understand how they could tell Emil if you ride in Poland you will be refused the opportunity to ride in Russia. I can also understand how they could say to Emil you cant leave to go to Poland because our borders are closed....which i know is not a fact as Im currently sat with 3 Russians who have travelled here to work in the North Sea. The same goes for the Swedish, Danish and British authorities thinking of preventing riders from going to ride in Poland, how can they do this? Surely they can only give them the choice, its either Poland or us. Im not certain of Dan Bewley's current stance but for example if the BSPA/SCB or Belle Vue tried to ban him from riding in Poland but cant guarantee him any rides in the UK surely they dont have a leg to stand on
  2. After announcing that top 4, any announcement involving Josh Bates and Ty Proctor would be a major disappointment. Get Dimitri and Todd in a reserve, then whomever fits for the remaining second string slot
  3. I would say a lot more people in this country have access to Eurosport than BT Sport. Eurosport comes as part of any basic sky package let alone even subscribing to sky sports. Just going by the viewing figures alone for football across the platforms, sky sports regularly has viewing figures in the 100s of thousands for any live football match, whereas as BT sport can only muster up viewing figures in the 10s of thousands even for champions leagues games, thus showing far more people have Sky than BT, therefore far more people have Eurosport than BT
  4. It’s being shown on the BT Sport app, so if you have a BT sport subscription you can watch via, pc laptop iPad etc
  5. Stock cars are 23rd June......Sheffield has no meeting on the 16th either? Also Stock cars on 4th August, Sheffield are at Leicester that date 6th October, should the season get that far, is also a date for Stock cars
  6. BWD also rides in Poland for Gdansk.......an issue of sunday riding is that pretty much every single potential replacement will already have commitments in Poland, unless you go with the risk of a complete unknown from Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic etc. I cant really see the point of making any team changes at this time, are the team doing good enough, no, is anyone glaringly poor, no. Should Ty, Kasper and Broc be scoring better around Sheffield, probably, but currently Drew and Zaine are far outscoring what was expected of someone in their first full seasons Away Danny isn't hitting the points a top number 1 should be, Zaine and Drew are in their first seasons so cant be expected to be really scoring but Ty's away performances are currently better than his home. The trouble is everyone can see the fixture list and can see the shield is gone, barring a miracle the cup is over, given we have some blank home dates in the fixtures and not believing the promotion will leave a bank holiday sunday fixture free and thus bringing someone forward, we could then potentially be looking at finishing the season at home in July !!!, Although given the fact there is massive potential for Sheff Utd to playing live on TV or at home at 4pm come sundays in August/September this could be great planning??? As for the track, well its certainly looked better in the last 2 weeks, it hasn't actually produced much better racing but it certainly hasn't been as dry dusty or looking like the M1, so improvements have been made in that area its obvious. Now why we don't have the racing we all once remembered I dont know, maybe the track is still poor in terms of producing different lines, it is currently gate go and as long as you dont drift off that one line you dont get passed, yes there was passing against Glasgow but I would say thats more to do with the rider in front making a mistake rather than someone blasting around the boards or cutting up the inside. No matter how much any promotion bigs up their club their team and their riders, the simple fact is Speedway is only 15 minutes long and now at 16 quid to get in thats over a pound a minute....I dont see too many keen to cough up over 90 quid each week for a football match if you want a cost comparison. Speedway has always been 15 minutes of adrenaline fuelled excitement potentially dragged out over 2 hours.....currently its 15 minutes of processional gate and go dragged out and the dragging bit is getting tiresome. A combination of the tracks, bikes, speed of meetings, and entertainment needs to be improved/addressed...at all venues. With the speed of meetings Im not necessarily referencing Sheffield as the start to end of a meeting this season has been good, not always the case. Although if on the rare occasion we have an exciting heat lets not leave it almost 10 mins to the start of the next one when everyone has fallen back to sleep. There is no reason why in every single heat, the boys cant cross the line, take in a victory lap and have the 2 mins on immediately, if the worlds top stars can do this at GP's and World Cups then there is no reason it cant happen here. The paying public are there to see the racing not the breaks in between
  7. 1- Ashley Morris 2- James Shanes 3 - Zaine Kennedy (Reserve replacement for Drew Kemp) 4 - Danyon Hume 1-5, time 62.9
  8. So basically just a way of drumming up a bit of interest on a dull friday in the off season. Potentially adding a few more bums to seats to for practice and encouraging a few more riders to actually turn up to practice.
  9. Sorry don’t understand this? It means that the fastest rider can pick in starting position in the 1-16 with those pre determined gates? Or that in each individual race the fastest rider can choose his starting gate as in all 5 rides from gate 1? What happens in the semis and finals? Gate positions given out as previous to highest point scorers or the fastest in practice?
  10. Can someone point me to where exactly BT have said both meetings will be shown live on TV? As I can't see anything stating the second leg will be televised As for those asking how is this on TV and the second leg of the Premiership semi final wasnt, well the fact that meeting went up against potentially the biggest sporting competition in the world, a competition that BT have invested several 100 million in, speedway isn't likely to jump the queue. The fact that this meeting wasn't part of the original package that BT took over from SKY could be seen as a good sign that they are happy with the viewing figures and are happy to invest some of their own money in televising the sport, or is it due to the BV Wolves meeting being postponed they still effectively "owe" British speedway another televised fixture?
  11. As a few have indicated it was pretty much a bore fest with 60 seconds of excitement dragged out over 3 hours. Admittedly though cannot deny that Lasse's ride in heat 9 was worth the admission alone, not only the most exciting heat of the night but potentially of the season. Yes Ipswich's bike troubles may have let the meeting go at the end although it would be hard to deny that Sheffield's bike troubles at the start of the meeting are what kept close in the first place. As for Ricky Wells, pretty sure in put in more good rides in this one meeting than he did in the whole season he rode for us
  12. Anyone know the reason why this meeting, or the reverse fixture isn't taking place on the Thursday. Seems strange both Thursday tracks and racing on alternative dates
  13. I think the promotion have to be commended on some things. The slick presentation of both meetings over the last 2 weeks, prompt start getting on with the racing and getting it over and done with quickly trying to keep the momentum going. I think the idea of the free meeting seems to have attracted a few more through the gate as last night was certainly up there with some of the best gates of the last couple of seasons, maybe the start of the bank holiday weekend also helped. Trouble is at the end of the day if the product is rubbish those people won't come back and to be honest there wasn't a quids worth of entertainment last night let alone 15 quids worth, Heeps coming up with about the only genuine pass of the night. Sheffield has turned into a gate and go track, which ultimately will lead to more boredom, more jumped starts and re runs more boredom and a lot less crowd. Sheffield may win the league by a mile, but come September how many will be there to see it. Also what is going on with the car park, half of it taken up for the casino, fair enough, but now it seems to have become and overflow car park for a showroom or car rental company??
  14. Anyone recommend a decent repo for being able to watch polish and swedish meetings live via kodi?
  15. There is no disputing the loss of Steady was a huge factor in this meeting but that should not detract from the fact that Sheffield should still have won this meeting. There are currently 3 people who should not be involved with Sheffield Josh Bates Nathan Greaves And whomever is supposedly the team manager When is the management going to make decent decisions during a meeting? Nathan should never have come out in heat 8 Arthur should have been brought in against Tom Perry and Holub. Arthur at that stage was riding well where as the Peterborough pair had done nothing. A 5-1 at that time would have put the meeting beyond doubt in my opinion. How Nathan remains in the side let alone takes all his programmed rides is way beyond me
  16. Think you are mixed up with previous play off scenarios, after Scunthorpe on Monday Sheffield only have one definite away meeting. Teams finishing 4th and 5th meet home and away with the winner progressing to the semi finals and the losers season is over
  17. I couldn't get rid of the boxes either till I clicked the red close box in the centre and then all the pops disappeared at the same time
  18. Riding for Masarna and Valsarna respectively, can pretty much rule out anyone that rides in the Swedish Allsvenskan league as it is a Thursday.
  19. Can't believe this has actually been written? The first 9 heats and many after that will certainly go down as probably the most boring to be ever seen at Owlerton. Apart from the score a truly awful meeting lacking in any entertainment whatsoever.
  20. The current start time of 7:45 is fine, providing by start they mean tapes up at 7:45. Get the parade and general garbage out of the way and get the 2 minute siren on at 7:43. There is no reason why a meeting cannot be run with a race taking place on average every 5 mins, even allowing for a 15 minute interval that would still have the meeting over with by 9:15. The simple fact is that currently Sheffield take far to long to run their meetings as the gaps in-between races are massive and for no apparent reason. Any excitement that could possibly have been caused by one good race has soon diminished before the next race as it is sometimes close to 10 minutes before they get the riders up to tapes again. The first thing I suggest is keep the bloody tractor off the track so regular, surely a grade after every 4 races is fine, afterall, think this season has proved that no one cares about the track preparation as there has hardly been a pass and Owlerton is now about as interesting as Brandon was in the 80's
  21. All this talk of Scunthorpe and Rod Godfrey is confusing me, as I was under the impression, from something I read in the winter that this Scunthorpe NL side is actually being backed by Matt Ford/Poole and that Scunny would not have run in this league unless Poole had backed them to do it......or have I missed something?
  22. Danny King and Craig Cook Each Way for me Tai and Bomber straight to final, King Cook, Kennet and Nicholls to contest the semi, only person I can see springing a surprise would be Richie Worrall Good Luck
  23. Again the even money that Bet 365 offer on Brum at -9 seems generous. Birmingham are much stronger in the 2nd string and reserve berths and should run out comfortable winners The 21/20 on offer for Kings Lynn at +2 is worth a small gamble in my opinion, again the lower order of the Stars should be able to keep the meeting very close throughout
