  1. Can someone point me to where exactly BT have said both meetings will be shown live on TV? As I can't see anything stating the second leg will be televised As for those asking how is this on TV and the second leg of the Premiership semi final wasnt, well the fact that meeting went up against potentially the biggest sporting competition in the world, a competition that BT have invested several 100 million in, speedway isn't likely to jump the queue. The fact that this meeting wasn't part of the original package that BT took over from SKY could be seen as a good sign that they are happy with the viewing figures and are happy to invest some of their own money in televising the sport, or is it due to the BV Wolves meeting being postponed they still effectively "owe" British speedway another televised fixture?
  2. As a few have indicated it was pretty much a bore fest with 60 seconds of excitement dragged out over 3 hours. Admittedly though cannot deny that Lasse's ride in heat 9 was worth the admission alone, not only the most exciting heat of the night but potentially of the season. Yes Ipswich's bike troubles may have let the meeting go at the end although it would be hard to deny that Sheffield's bike troubles at the start of the meeting are what kept close in the first place. As for Ricky Wells, pretty sure in put in more good rides in this one meeting than he did in the whole season he rode for us
  3. Anyone know the reason why this meeting, or the reverse fixture isn't taking place on the Thursday. Seems strange both Thursday tracks and racing on alternative dates
  4. I think the promotion have to be commended on some things. The slick presentation of both meetings over the last 2 weeks, prompt start getting on with the racing and getting it over and done with quickly trying to keep the momentum going. I think the idea of the free meeting seems to have attracted a few more through the gate as last night was certainly up there with some of the best gates of the last couple of seasons, maybe the start of the bank holiday weekend also helped. Trouble is at the end of the day if the product is rubbish those people won't come back and to be honest there wasn't a quids worth of entertainment last night let alone 15 quids worth, Heeps coming up with about the only genuine pass of the night. Sheffield has turned into a gate and go track, which ultimately will lead to more boredom, more jumped starts and re runs more boredom and a lot less crowd. Sheffield may win the league by a mile, but come September how many will be there to see it. Also what is going on with the car park, half of it taken up for the casino, fair enough, but now it seems to have become and overflow car park for a showroom or car rental company??
  5. Anyone recommend a decent repo for being able to watch polish and swedish meetings live via kodi?
  6. There is no disputing the loss of Steady was a huge factor in this meeting but that should not detract from the fact that Sheffield should still have won this meeting. There are currently 3 people who should not be involved with Sheffield Josh Bates Nathan Greaves And whomever is supposedly the team manager When is the management going to make decent decisions during a meeting? Nathan should never have come out in heat 8 Arthur should have been brought in against Tom Perry and Holub. Arthur at that stage was riding well where as the Peterborough pair had done nothing. A 5-1 at that time would have put the meeting beyond doubt in my opinion. How Nathan remains in the side let alone takes all his programmed rides is way beyond me
  7. Think you are mixed up with previous play off scenarios, after Scunthorpe on Monday Sheffield only have one definite away meeting. Teams finishing 4th and 5th meet home and away with the winner progressing to the semi finals and the losers season is over
  8. I couldn't get rid of the boxes either till I clicked the red close box in the centre and then all the pops disappeared at the same time
  9. Riding for Masarna and Valsarna respectively, can pretty much rule out anyone that rides in the Swedish Allsvenskan league as it is a Thursday.
  10. Can't believe this has actually been written? The first 9 heats and many after that will certainly go down as probably the most boring to be ever seen at Owlerton. Apart from the score a truly awful meeting lacking in any entertainment whatsoever.
  11. The current start time of 7:45 is fine, providing by start they mean tapes up at 7:45. Get the parade and general garbage out of the way and get the 2 minute siren on at 7:43. There is no reason why a meeting cannot be run with a race taking place on average every 5 mins, even allowing for a 15 minute interval that would still have the meeting over with by 9:15. The simple fact is that currently Sheffield take far to long to run their meetings as the gaps in-between races are massive and for no apparent reason. Any excitement that could possibly have been caused by one good race has soon diminished before the next race as it is sometimes close to 10 minutes before they get the riders up to tapes again. The first thing I suggest is keep the bloody tractor off the track so regular, surely a grade after every 4 races is fine, afterall, think this season has proved that no one cares about the track preparation as there has hardly been a pass and Owlerton is now about as interesting as Brandon was in the 80's
  12. All this talk of Scunthorpe and Rod Godfrey is confusing me, as I was under the impression, from something I read in the winter that this Scunthorpe NL side is actually being backed by Matt Ford/Poole and that Scunny would not have run in this league unless Poole had backed them to do it......or have I missed something?
  13. Danny King and Craig Cook Each Way for me Tai and Bomber straight to final, King Cook, Kennet and Nicholls to contest the semi, only person I can see springing a surprise would be Richie Worrall Good Luck
  14. Again the even money that Bet 365 offer on Brum at -9 seems generous. Birmingham are much stronger in the 2nd string and reserve berths and should run out comfortable winners The 21/20 on offer for Kings Lynn at +2 is worth a small gamble in my opinion, again the lower order of the Stars should be able to keep the meeting very close throughout
  15. Even money on -8 for Wolves with Bet365 seems rather generous to me. I reckon Wolves by 11 or 12 points I know Rider points is a minefield especially if there is an EF, but unless he has bike issues I dont think Freddie will be troubled tonight and should get over 12
  16. The only people who will ultimately resolve this issue are the likes of Monster and the various tourist boards of Wales, Copenhagen, Torun etc etc as they will have entered into a sponsorship agreement with BSI/IMG under the proviso of some form of mainstream TV coverage in the UK during the length of their respective deals. In a smaller way some rider influence could also play a part. Sky want to show GP speedway, although they have books to balance so it has to be at the right price. If IMG are asking an astronomical amount for the rights to broadcast then Sky are perfectly within their rights to refuse to stump up the cash. They will know their viewing figures and subsequently will know how much they can charge companies for a 30 second advert during the broadcast. The more viewers then the more sky can charge to advertise. If the advertising revenue does not cover the amount IMG are asking Sky to pay then they are not going to do it, simple. It would appear then that IMG are overpricing the product they think they have, with respect to the UK. If however Monster etc have entered an agreement to inject X amount of cash into the IMG bank and then suddenly are not getting the "air time" in teh UK they thought they were buying, then they are not going to be happy. Simple offer to withdraw sponsorship or reduce the funding would have IMG reconsidering the amoun they want Sky to cough up. In the same respect certain sponsors of riders may also be miffed about the lack of Sky coverage, I am sure Mr "Hagon Shocks" is probably not best pleased that his name will not be blazoned all over the World Champion on our screens every other Saturday night. Again a simple word to Chris Holder along the lines of sorry mate but I'm not getting the advertising I was hoping for therefore my funding to you for next you will have to be reduced. That then leaves the Chris considering whether he can afford the expense to compete at the top level and potentially be a high profile absentee from the IMG circus for 2014. As for those stating they will cancel Sky if no GP, that will ultimately be to the detriment of the sport. According to figures on this site, it costs Sky approx 50k to cover a meeting. At approx 30 meetings per year that's 1.5 million pound. They will already know the viewing figures and hence therefore the amount they can charge prospective advertisers. So start reducing the number of personnel subscribed to sky will ultimately lower the viewing figures meaning advertisers will be less likely to pay for their 30 second slot at their current rate and the amount that Sky bring in will be reduced. At some stage they will not cover their 1.5 million outlay and will ditch speedway from their schedules, then you can say RIP speedway. Fans matter not one bit, economics and media advertising is all that counts in today's world. (I have no connection or knowledge about Chris Holder or Hagon Shocks, I just used them as an example and no detriment to their relationship was intended) I should have added, I personally think Sky TV will continue to operate perfectly well without Speedway GP being broadcast on its platform I am not 100% certain that Speedway GP can continue to operate, long term, without Sky TV
  17. Currently 200 miles north of Karratha but with some good fortune and a combination of Choppers, Planes an Automobiles should be at Pinjar for 6pm. How easy is it to get a cab back from Pinjar to Perth city centre after the event?
  18. Anyone know if this will be a direct feed from Canal +, or will there be English commentary and analysis?
  19. It was announced in the speedway star 2-3 weeks go Ryan Blacklock (Unsure of spelling as doing it from memory) Ex Moto X, Mate of Craig Cook and keen to outshine him
  20. If you beat Plymouth by more than 7 on Wednesday you will be top of the league as far as the play offs are concerned as Buxton arent riding their match at Kings Lynn till after the 12th
  21. My understanding is that you are correct in what you say....at this moment in time. Although I doubt anything is going to change during the coming week. Rye House are probably now in pole position for 4th place as they do have 2 meetings this week and out of the play off contenders they are the only team with a home meeting
  22. So the BSPA only posting this on their website in the last hour shows how much they know whats going on
  23. Word from Gorican is that the meeting start has been delayed by one hour
