  1. Should be, but we are a lot better away from home than we are at home. Wolves look strong though. Swindon have the top end to keep it relatively close, but probably not enough strength lower down to get us over the line.
  2. I thought the track seemed ok last night. Some of the racing was spread out, but it happens sometimes at Blunsdon. Jason came close to the track record in heat one so it must have ridden ok.
  3. A very poor performance from Swindon last night. It was pretty clear from early in the match how it was going to end. Jason Doyle, however, was absolutely brilliant. I think that's the best I've seen him ride for Swindon. He was never going to get beaten. The only time anyone was near him all night was What's more, once the tactical ride is taken into ccount, he actually scored above his 13.41 average! Even Jason spoe of changes to the team when interviewed after the meeting, so it looks like that may be happening. The issue is, who would we change? If Adam is replaced it would have to be with a British rider. Also, it's likely he will drop to reserve now, which could turn his season around. Forget the starting averages now - if Adam is on a 3 average and at reserve he is worth keeping. It has to be the middle order who are at risk, and, if he fits, Tungate is looking like an option. Dany Gappmaier rode well last night, and improved with each race, but he could well end up bearking the record for the shortest time ever as a Swindon rider! It would be a shame in a way as he definitely showed last night that he has something - but we need to be able to win at home.
  4. They may or may not have. I know plent of people who have moved to the UK but never taken up citizenship, so it's certainly not a given. Either way, though, he is British both by birth and by descent. You can't get more British than that!
  5. You don't necessarily have to be a citizen to be living in a country, and you don't necessarily become a citizen just by living in a country. Ther is a whole complicted process to go through. If you look at the Aussie rules, you need to be 16 or over to apply for citizenship of Australia. Tai moved back to the UK at 15. One way he could have acquired it is if his parents applied for it and added him in at the same time, but I've never seen it written anywhere that this ever happened. It is possible he did become an Australian citizen by using that route, but people just seem to assume he is one just because he lived there for 10 years and that's not necessarily the case. But even if he did, he will still have UK citizenship and would have had it from birth.
  6. Chanting? Do we really need gobby fans from the Midlands coming to Blunsdon and singing 'Fertilizer, fertilzer' or 'I can't read and I can't write but that don't really matter, coz I'z a Swindon Robins fan and I can drive my tractor'? No. We don't need that. So rude. :-)
  7. Who piled on points at reserve for Swindon last year? that would be Rohan Tungate.
  8. Very true about Michael Lee. In the 1981 final when he came off a massive cheer came up from the crowd. Not sure why he was unpopular. I think at that time most British fans seemed to support the USA! Or, at least, it seemed like that.
  9. Doesn't Rory have a British wife? I'm sure someone posted this before. This would entitle him to residency and, after 5 years, citizenship if he remained a resident for those 5 years. I've still to see a decisive reason given for Tai to qualify for Aussie citizenship.
  10. Scored 16 for Berwick recently so must be worth a punt getting him snapped up before he gets a new average.
  11. Strange to see a new signing appear on the BSPA website but not announced by the club. I can only think they wanted to keep everything about the Sprockets at the moment, but still a strange situation. Dont know anything about the new guy, as is pretty normal for this year, so a case of wait and see. Sad to hear about Bob Radford. I got to know him a bit when he was at Reading and was very touched when he turned up at my dad's funeral. Strange to see a new signing appear on the BSPA website but not announced by the club. 12. How? It was definitely part of The World Games. I remember it being announced beforehand. They didn't even ride in countries. I think I have it somewhere on an old vhs tape too.
  13. There's also Nick Morris, who was refused entry into a competition that would have made him a GB rider. As a result he ended up riding as an Aussie. Can you explain how Tai qualifies to ride for Australia?
  14. There's a pretty good chance he is actually as he qualifies automatically for dual nationality - something Tai doesn't do.
  15. It depends how big the event is I guess. If there is genuine prestige in winning then clearly we should go with the best rides. I remember a speedway event in the World games at Wimbledon and was a bit of a non event - just random pairs event with avout at much significance as an EL fixture filler. So maybe it's a lot of fuss about nothing.
  16. Do we know for a fact that BSPA pick who rides? Is it possible the BSPA put him forward for selection but the Team GB manager opted not to select him? For me it's a no brainer to use him if he's available. Whoever decided against it is missing an opportunity to be a contender in the event and possibly get Tai back on board for Team GB.
  17. Why can you not include Tai Woffinden? He started here in the bottom leagues as a 15 year old. Seems pretty valid to me. When Aussies come over here and ride in the UK I bet you, and many others, feel that they earned their stripes in the UK, so why can you not say the same about a British rider?
  18. Don't know much about Warren. Adams, Sigalos and Carter had it in them I believe. Never saw it in Jessup really. People talk about the 1978 final, but his EF was in his first ride so he had no pressure. When the pressure was on to get on the rostrum he lost out to Gordon Kennett and then Scott Autrey.
  19. Not so sure. My main memory of Scott Autrey in World Championships was surprisingly failing to get through European Championships where all but 4 qualified. I'm not convinced he had that extra edge to make him a World Champion, even if he did get a rostrum place on year. More a Phil Crump than an Ivan Mauger.
  20. The signing of Bellego was a great one so far. I think many people were a bit baffled by it, particularly as his average was almost identical to Justin Sedgman's, but Rosco had clearly done his homework and decided he was someone he wanted for a reason. The top end strength will, unfortunately, make it very difficult to make changes lower down the order and our scores this year will probably make us pretty close to the new points limit as we've had mainly close matches.
  21. Not so sure about that. Those houses would have been built with or without planning permission for a new stadium. Having the stadium included in the plans gives more hope of a stadium being built than not having it.
  22. As half the stadium has apparently been built and is being stored in deepest Wales it would be nice to see a picture of it to back up the claim.
  23. Back in my day the guy who was top of the division one averages would never ride in division two. But we were 'appy.
