  1. We had this before , didn't work then , wont work now . 1996 Scottish Monarchs . A lot of Edinburgh fans wouldn't go because it was at Glasgow , and we went and supported the away team every week until we got fed up with it all . Seriously how many Berwick fans could turn up and support the Borders Monarchs ???????
  2. Play offs are here to stay , so the traditionalists will just have to lump it . They provide great tension and excitement , the last three finals have went to the 30th heat i think . Yes it seems unfair if the table topping team doesnt come out champions , but the league is merely a qualifying competition for this now .
  3. What date is it again that Smirker and Sedgwoman are away to sit in the pits at the Aussie GP ? just in case we squeeze past Plymouth and have to set a date for the semi final
  4. There isn't one , unless you like The Proclaimers and support Hibs or Hearts and then Glasgow are up to something again .
  5. I've questioned this in the past as I watch Richard Lawson do it regularly . Apparently it's ok as long as you're holding onto the handlebars . Another one of speedway's pointless rules .
  6. Rye House have previous at Glasgow , remember McAllan and Ksiezak being the Rockets duo in the PL Pairs
  7. High average or not , teams would be falling over themselves to have him in their side . But reading that article , and his feelings towards last week's PLRC , makes me think he has tired of PL racing and sees himself going higher .
  8. I hope Cook does . He'll be missed at PL level , but I don't think he's reached his peak yet and from a British point of view it would be nice if he could reach the next level . We only have Woffinden and to a lesser extent , Harris
  9. According to the article in the Speedway Star , this week , he reckons it's time to kiss the Premier League goodbye . We shall see
  10. Just a wee thread for the Moanarchs to have a whinge about Glasgow . They have a free Friday and their fans are disappointed , but on the brightside it's all Glasgow's fault
  11. Cant be many other sports where it's left to the clubs to sort out fixtures . The BSPA should have announced the dates for the final after it was known who the finalists were , but instead we have this nonsense again where a club finds itself with a free week and it's supporters have a moan because nobody will agree to fill that date for them .
  12. The arrogance is breathtaking . We want both teams at full strength for this so there is no excuses
  13. Great day out as usual , wasn't a great meeting but individuals very rarely are . Surprising , but deserved winner . Two Glasgow riders were a bit disappointing , but they usually are in this event , no winner since the great Robert Nagy in 92 . Thought the crowd was a bit down on recent years , the pub certainly was beforehand .
  14. I fear Victor's absence at reserve is going to be the deciding factor in this tie , especially tonight . He's done well on small , tight away tracks and I really cant see Carr and Stichauer doing much at Brough . We did as well as we could today , but whether 6 points will be enough of a lead is questionable . Summers and Lawson were superb again until Richard must have had bike issues prior to heat 13 and just missed the two minutes when he appeared on Aaron's bike . I feel for young James now , he has this reputation as a roller at the starts , and it seems everytime he makes a start now the referees bring the race back . That happened today and I didn't see much wrong with the gate he made and it was noticeable in a couple of his races that he was slowest from the start as if he was over compensating . Anyway we had some incredibly fast times today , either that or Mr M Mouse supplied the stopwatch cause the existing track record was beaten 5 times and Hynek 57.7 in heat 2 !!!! seriously haha
  15. Kus is an enigma , at Ashfield he can be brilliant or dreadful , there's no middle ground . He did suffer from mechanical problems last time , when up with Redcar , so we'll see But it's more about us than the threat Newcastle might provide . None of this throwing away silly points like we have been doing , we need at least a 12 point lead to take down there
  16. Don't think we'll ever get back to the halcyon days when there was well over 20 clubs in the second tier of British speedway , and there was quite a few in the top league . But something has got to change because the doubling up thing has spiralled out of control and nobody knows who's riding for who these days
  17. Was me who was doing the texting and I offered my opinion on the heat 7 incident . The referee's opinion agreed with mine and he excluded Richard Lawson . In a meeting between two sides near the top of the table , at the tickly bit of the season , you're going to get committed racing and sometimes it gets a wee bit too committed , as was the case on a few occasions on Sunday . Likewise , depending on which side you support , certain incidents are going to cause outrage and some are going to be conveniently forgotten about . Every club's supporters do that , even your own moral highground dwellers . Nick Morris was painted the anti-Christ after the Tabaka crash , but numerous acts of naughtiness by Ryan Fisher in a Monarchs racebib were shrugged off . That's just human nature . Can never understand why mechanics always feel they have to get involved when something like this happens . Being a rider's minder shouldn't be in the job description
  18. The BSF has enhanced my enjoyment of speedway . I used to go to the meeting , go home and forget about speedway till the next meeting . I didn't even know what a Monarch looked like and that they didn't really eat their children . Now I can talk about speedway 7 days a week to my hearts content and have a bit of fun with them as well .
  19. Just one of those days when incidents , outwith anyone's control , happens . I had to leave before the end of the meeting myself . I hope that doesn't put you off visiting us again .
  20. Good to see a bit of fisty cuffs at the speedway again , we've not had that since Grievesy retired , well done Richie Worrall
  21. Fair assessment Davy , nice to see you again . And I was there in my role as Scottish tour guide for a visiting Newport Wasp contingent
