  1. I think most of us are agreed on that . It was a great effort tonight , and we should all be proud of the team .
  2. I completely agree with you . Had the British number 6 been in the pits , would the team-spirit been the same ? I doubt it . Yes Bridger and King found it tough tonight , but what experience they have gained . We will come back better and stronger next year .
  3. You have to wonder if there is more to Scott's absence than meets the eye . But although we just failed , what a difference in the pits compared to Nicholls and Harris stood , arms folded , ignoring each other like last year .
  4. Can you believe it , my SKY has just went down . It's back again , thank god for that
  5. Correct . We all remember the obvious tension between Bomber and Scott last year . Scott might still be our best rider , but there is more chance of getting more out of the team without him . Good luck to the lads tonight .
  6. Where the hell is Aland ? Never heard of it .
  7. You speak for yourself Snyper . Some of us Scots are right behind Team GB and were proud of the young lads last night . The team spirit Rob Lyon has instilled was wonderful . Oh and Ulster is part of the United Kingdom .
  8. Good post . People on here greet and moan that there isn't much in the way of British talent coming through , well now we have a manager brave enough to give it a chance . Who's to say that the likes of Danny King won't grab this chance with both hands and take his career to a new level . The old guard have had their chances , and plenty of them , and come up short . These lads might fail this time , or they might not , but it will be a good grounding for progress to be made in the next couple of years . Critcism of Lyon is as laughable as it is pathetic , mainly coming from EL supporters who can't get their head round that someone other than the top league clique could possibly do the job . Let's face it - the last incumbant of the position had plenty of EL experience and erm ...................
  9. Was talking to one of our older supporters in our group at Cardiff at the weekend , and i was asking him about Eric Liddell . "Three laps Liddell" was his reply ." A decent enough rider ", he said , " but would come off a lot , usually on the last lap " .
  10. Plus they don't wash very often , or clean their teeth . And they eat things that live under stones . But i agree about the birds , though you forgot Vanessa Paradis .
  11. But it's all in the past now , hopefully that won't be repeated next year . Nice to finally meet you by the way .
  12. You hate our head of state , defender of the faith and head bluenose . To the tower with you boy .
  13. I've not got the Scottish chip on my shoulder in any way shape or form , but even i was getting increasingly irritated by the continual " Come on England " . It was , if i'm not mistaken , the British GP ( and i am proud to be British ) . I'm sure the Welsh people in the crowd must have felt the same as me .
  14. Never seen any trouble whatsover all day . Had a cracking couple of hours at the Prince of Wales with loads of wonderful people , followed by an enjoyable GP watched from the back straight . I just love Cardiff .
  15. Absolutely bonkers Anyway back to reality , i've got an 8 hour nightshift to negotiate - then we're off . Don't fancy the forecast for the Pairs though , so fingers crossed Somerset's track misses those thundery showers .
  16. Probably would be . In my time watching speedway i would place him behind Jim McMillan , George Hunter and Bobby Beaton . But i would put him ahead of the Templetons , Brian Collins and James Grieves . So yes i would have him in the top 5 .
  17. Have a safe and enjoyable journey over Dave , and i'll share a beer or twenty with you at Cardiff , Workington and Glasgow .
  18. I'm behaving myself this year , not much bevvy for me .
  19. Leaving Glasgow at 8 am on Friday . Should make the Pairs in time .
  20. I'm too young to have seen Tommy Miller ride for the Tigers , and Ken McKinley was at the end of his illustrious career when i started going to see speedway at Glasgow's White City as a bright-eyed nine year old . But in my 40 years of watching speedway - it's no contest Jim McMillan is the greatest Scotsman to have ridden a speedway bike . And yes you are correct , i think i would be struggling to name 20 likely candidates from the time i have been going .
  21. No , i'm going to behave myself this year mate We are staying in Bristol this year and will be heading down to Cardiff after breakfast on Saturday morning . See you in the pub around noon
  22. Well playmates that's us into the final week Can't wait for the weekend , especially the Pairs at Somerset .
  23. On the pavement outside the Prince of Wales . Hope it doesn't rain .
  24. Meeting everyone in the pubs before the meeting , i love all that .
