  1. The reason the World cup final is usually so good is that it's on a proper speedway track and not one of those temporary efforts that break up after about 5 heats .
  2. I'm amazed Tai Woffinden isn't in the team anyway . The Aussies weren't shy in giving Chris Holder his chance at World Cup level when he was a PL rider , why aren't we doing the same thing with Tai . Let's be honest , we wont get to within 12 points of the Danes tonight - we might not beat Sweden for second either , so let's blood the youngster and give him the valuable experience .
  3. Dunno about the prices , but there have been much better meetings televised from Leszno in the past . At the start of the programme they did mention there had been some rain , whether that had an effect on the track - i don't know . The centre of the track ( on the bends ) did become very bare in the second half of the meeting .
  4. If we want team speedway they would have to bring back the World Pairs , which wouldn't be a bad thing .
  5. Wasn't so much the joker as Jagus's engine failure in the joker race that cost the Poles . Quite pleased the Aussies done it though as the Poles looked to be getting a bit of assistance from the Russians towards the end of the meeting . Good to see Shane Parker laughing and joking in the pits . Looks a bit skinny though .
  6. For all those who haven't got Sky and are trying to get some obscure foreign link to work - don't bother cause it's mince . Every race decided by the 2nd bend .
  7. Funny thing about those airhorn thingys . I personally dont mind them at Cardiff , when there's hundreds of them going off at the same time . But when you get a lone numpty, at a league match, stood next to you - you just want to take it from them and stick it where the sun dont shine .
  8. Why would a second GP in this country have to go to Wembley anyway . From what i've heard about the place , we'd all need a lottery win to attend it . Cardiff is great , i love the place , but if a track can be laid in the Millenium stadium - then why not Murrayfield . People visiting the city would find Edinburgh just as enjoyable as what Cardiff has become .
  9. Certainly is - there were at least 5 steps too many i had to climb to get to my seat . The temperature during the day was half a degree too cold . Distance to walk between pubs is an utter disgrace , did the town planner not consider speedway at all whem mapping out where the pubs should go . Start girls had too many clothes on , and as for letting Australians win the thing , well that was the straw that broke the camel's back - that finished it for me . Time we moved the whole thing to somewhere like Buxton or Mildenhall for 2009 .
  10. As a group us Glasgow fans always base ourselves in Newport . Granted we have our own coach , but are quite happy to let anyone out . This year we took a couple of Newcastle fans to Somerset and Cardiff , plus we had a couple of waifs and strays joining us after the GP .
  11. And Lis , there is a good pub across the road from the Travel Inn .
  12. While it was the ref's fault as both occassions should have been all 4 back . It was the images put up on the big screen of Pedersen smirking and laughing about the decisions that annoyed some people . Wasn't one of the booers myself as i cant get worked up about GP's as i do about league speedway .
  13. Another cracking Cardiff weekend just flew past in a blur . You look forward to it for weeks and in an instant it's gone . Didn't think the pubs were nearly as busy as last year , maybe the credit crunch is beginning to bite . But i had a great time and met loads of new people as well as a few more familiar faces . The GP itself doesn't have to be that good , as the whole day leading up to it is my highlight . Brilliant to meet Nevs , Mike PK , LW , WvrsH , Bobbin Along and Badge for the first time , plus anyone else who introduced themselves to me as there were too many to remember all the names . And it's always great to run into more kent faces like Jacques , Shadow , Full Throttle , Colin Cooke , Goldmember , KevH , Joanne , Shadders , B4E , Pammie , Merlin , Seb the Snail , Lucifer Sam , SCB , Silver Bee ,Dracula , MOT , Tsunami, UK Martin, Tanya and all the Newport crew - everyone was brilliant . And of course the pair of reprobates i watched the GP with Pinny and Reckless Eric - it was a cracking day and roll on next year . There were some i did want to catch up with , but so many people so little time . There's always next year .
  14. All packed and ready to go . Just got the small problem of a 10 hour nightshift to do tonight , before we hit the road for Somerset at 7-30 tomorrow morning .
  15. I'll try and make smokers corner at some point Nevs .
  16. Being a tight Jock i always take the Speedway Star and fill it in . Bloody programme is about a tenner .
  17. Belinda's alright , quite fit in her younger days . Dont think i'll be giving up drinking time to rush in to listen to her though .
  18. Brett bloody-Saunders rode for the Monarchs in the early nineties .
  19. Face it people . With the final being held at the super-slick , gating tart headquarters ( Voyens , Denmark ) . Does it matter what team we , or the rest of the countries send , we're only racing for second behind the Danes on an Ole Olsen prepared track .
  20. Interesting . But will we still have the " It's a knockout " type silly jokers ?
  21. Ah the Grand Prix monster . Tracks either like a motorway or downright dangerous . You can win a GP and receive less points for your efforts than the guy who finishes second . Disrupts speedway every other week . Makes you yearn for a good old one-off world final dont it .
