  1. To be fair to Len the forecast today is pretty poor so I can understand the early call off. It's his decision to pull the plug on the scunny match a couple off weeks ago that baffles me!
  2. The food at reading used to be quite good, but the only track i would consider buying grub now would be mildenhall.
  3. It's always harder for new tracks to maintain the crowd levels in their 2nd season. That's why it's so important to sort out the track problems as soon as possible.
  4. Buzz was a legend in wimbledon's CL era. He took many risks on that tricky plough lane track in the dons cause. His battles with lewis bridger home and away were not for the faint hearted!
  5. If you can look beyond the awful commentary, it was good to see some league racing from another country. The crowd looked pretty poor, is this the norm for swedish league matches. A big well done to eurosport for showing us some different speedway from the usual EL and GP coverage.
  6. I just don't think british speedway is sustainable in it's present form. It's far too expensive for the product that's on offer and the public are voting with their feet. Run down stadiums and poorly prepared tracks don' t help in the fight to keep the few die hards that still attend. A reduction in admission prices is the only way to save speedway in this country, and if that means kicking out the high earners, then so be it. Looking at the attendances at the televised meetings abroad, it seems that the decline in speedway popularity is worldwide.
  7. Tony was a regular part of the london speedway scene when i was a kid, riding for west ham, wembley and wimbledon. RIP clarkie.
  8. riders at any level need a decent and safe track to race on. The surface at Central Park is awful considering it is over a year old. If things don't improve, the crowds will drop and none of us want that.
  9. A decent meeting today that hotted up as the match wore on. Well done to the Ipswich promotion in booking two ambulances, which enabled both incidents to be sorted with minimal delays. Get well soon to both riders
  10. the track should have been sorted out during the winter months. I thought it looked really poor for the king's Lynn meeting, this helped me decide to go to Ipswich today instead. If thing's don't improve at Central Park, I will have to consider cutting down on the amount of meetings I attend there.
  11. If you used PayPal you should be able to get a refund.
  12. Plenty of financial problems down at Plymouth, with talk of closing unless crowds increase. Where does this leave the NL team.
  13. I really do fear for the future of speedway at rye if they did pull a stunt like this. No doubt some fans turned up tonight expecting to see a meeting, not all of us have internet access.
  14. It was pretty wet south of the river yesterday shads, but at lakeside last night it was dry and had been for most of the day.
  15. I'm surprised it's off so early. The BBC forecast is for a dry late afternoon and evening, no doubt Len is saving the track for next weeks semi!
  16. The track was poor on monday and seems the same as last season. The air fence looks very good but the riders also need a decent surface to race on.
  17. When I saw him ride on the Isle of Wight last year I was shocked at the size of his pit crew complete with name boards, the type you see in the Grand Prix. He certainly is a big talent and has come a long way from those pre meeting spins he used to have at rye house.
  18. I'm not a big chris neath fan, but he is the best rider i have seen ride the rye house track. He could overtake on parts of the track that no other rider could, and i have been a rye regular since 1972!
  19. It was pretty poor viewing from the bends at the launch pad on Saturday. The new air fence means I've lost my spot in the middle of bends three and four and I will miss watching the do or die efforts of certain riders round the final two turns at rye. The air fence seems to be mainly free standing with very little to support it and to stop riders going underneath it in the event of a high speed fall.
  20. no judge in his right mind would shut down a football ground in this country. Some clubs can go bust two or three times and still stay in business. Football seems to be above the law in most cases, and I'm a big fan of both football and speedway.
  21. I remember a certain southern track reducing the admission price when scunny were the visitors in the 1970's.
