What sad news, mike was a true gent who I knew well in his Wimbledon days. Mike gave me his chalfont dons race jacket at the end of the 1983 season and I still have it my collection. RIP mike and thanks for the memories.

A fine gesture by the kent management last night. To let those fans that attended last weeks rain off in for nothing was excellent PR for the club. And was well appreciated by yours truly!

Regarding the readmission policy in the uk. I think it is unfair on the fans to get no discount if a result is declared from heat 10 onwards. We pay our money at the turnstiles for 15 races and we should be refunded if we don't receive that. I suppose cricket and tennis fans might feel the same way. Getting back to last night, I was quite surprised on entering the stadium to see how much water had been put on the track pre meeting. Did no one look at the rainfall radar, to realise how close the wet stuff was.

This coming Wednesday sees the rockets take on Redcar in a rare midweek meeting at the launch pad. There is a bit of high cloud forecast for the hoddesdon area, so fingers crossed Len don't call it off!

For the first time in over a decade I was up at worky for the recent Ipswich match. I was very impressed with the whole set up, the stadium was very smart and the track was well prepared. After the Edinburgh call off and today's fiasco, was I just lucky with my visit.

The madness of uncle Len saved me having to make a decision, so I went to eastbourne and enjoyed an excellent meeting on a much improved Arlington track. Thanks Len!

I really do think that the league match should have been run first and the kids afterwards. Any problems could mean a later start for the panthers meeting, a 5pm start on a Sunday is too late and puts me off to be honest.

Jon cook was saying that the lakeside crowds have held up really well despite the world cup. They always seem to pick up when the weather gets milder.

Well it is saturday, so there must be rain forecast!

I think i read that lakeside's crowds are averaging around the 1200 mark. Which is very good considering it is an awful place to get to with very basic facilities.

Today july 14th is the anniversary of the lokeren disaster of 1970. Phil bishop, gary everett, martyn piddock, peter bradshaw and malcolm carmichael perished in a horrific road accident in belgium. West ham and wimbledon were poorer places after the loss of these men, and i will be thinking of them at kent speedway tonight. RIP they will not be forgotten.

I thought it was a decent meeting last night and very well run. The shambles at cardiff station after the meeting was another matter. Due to some moron smashing a train window i ended up back in london over an hour late. I was not amused!
