  1. How many times has len pulled the plug on what turned out to be a dry day. No investigations where uncle len is concerned, he is untouchable!
  2. I've had a text saying it's sunny at the stadium and some fans turned up expecting to see a meeting. A couple of my mates had wasted journeys. I always check to see if it's on, even on a dry day!
  3. It's always been the old pals act as far as riders are concerned to uncle Len. This goes as far back as his early promoting days at hackney. He has made a career out of being too loyal to under achieving riders, and is far too old to change his ways now!
  4. The weather looks a bid dodgy tomorrow evening, let's hope the forecast is wrong!
  5. eastbourne, lakeside, kent and rye are the four tracks I visit the most. The crowds are down at all of these venues, some drastically. Personally I don't think speedway can be saved in this country at its present level. Years of neglect and taking its punters for mugs have taken its toll. In my eyes we have already reached the point of no return.
  6. Speedway is on the slide and the crowds are down everywhere. Promoters have to up their game to keep hold of the fans that are left. Is len the man for the job, who knows?
  7. The poor viewing is the main reason for me cutting down at rye this season, and it's not len's fault. After losing my regular spot in the middle of turns 3 and 4 because of the air fence, I have tended to migrate down to Eastbourne more on a Saturday evening. Not that the racing at Arlington is any better than rye, I'm just not happy with the enforced changes at the launch pad.
  8. Too much of a financial gamble unless full planning permission is obtained.
  9. The state of the track and the lack of entertaining racing are the main reasons.
  10. The crowds have gone down this season. I know a few regulars from last year that don't go no more. The track is still poor and maybe the novelty has worn off for some fans. Saying that, i enjoyed last mondays meeting and will continue to attend for official fixtures. I hope that the crowds will pick up once the kids break up for the summer holidays.
  11. Full credit to the patched up coventry team that played their part in a decent hard fought match last night. It don't suit everyone, but i do like the earlier start time that enable me to get home at a reasonable hour.
  12. The last great london stadium of the 1920's is looking tired now. I went to over 600 speedway meetings there between 1968 and 2005. Sadly I can't see that number ever being added to.
  13. The fish and chips at mildenhall today were superb, worth every penny of the £5.50 it cost me!
  14. No Swedish league racing on TV tonight is a shame, I was looking forward to it!
  15. Hit and miss really. The first time I really took notice of him was at west ham in 1971, when he got a full maximum riding for reading. It was a real surprise to me at the time.
  16. it was my attempt at being sarcastic Sidney!
  17. He was white city's best rider in 1977!!!
  18. Good meeting tonight, that shows what we are missing in this country. Would the crowds return if the top riders rode here, who knows, who would take the financial risk.
  19. I saw him ride a few times at wembley and Wimbledon in the 1970's. Not enough to make an impression on me at the time, although I was only a nipper!
  20. I agree, well done in getting a result in tricky conditions. I think the natural watering helped the track in the early part of the meeting.
  21. This coming Monday sees the potters visit Central Park. The weather forecast looks poor for the next few days, fingers crossed for some of the dry stuff!
