So the name of the horse was ...................... knobhead?
-
Yes, I've no doubt that you did.
-
I have no idea whether or not you can spell correctly the name of Jerzy wotsit. It was my idea of humour
-
Frankly I've no idea
-
I think you'll find that like everyone else the promotion is waiting to see what the NL AGM brings.
-
On what basis do you believe that Plymouth will not be riding next season?
-
TBH I find it difficult to be too upset about that. You reap what you sow
-
Probably the footings of a house
-
You are correct, it was at a site adjacent to the rugby club. It is possible that a budding promotion might be able to resurrect an application, but I suspect the troubles of Plymouth's recent promotion would be enough to dissuade anyone from trying.
-
I think it only came to light a good while after the application was made and the potential promotion no longer existed
-
Certainly that was the story at the time. I may be wrong, but my understanding is that it subsequently came to light that objections by a person or persons were made using National Trust headed stationery; the National Trust denied ever making an objection. If this is true then it only goes to prove how low people will stoop.

Blimey..speedway on BBC1!
ancient mariner replied to Ovalman's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
And from the BBC Sport site: Director of BBC Sport Barbara Slater said: "BBC Sports Personality of the Year is a much-loved BBC show that is constantly evolving. Bringing in these changes allows us to celebrate even further what has been an incredible year of sport whilst also paying tribute to the achievements of individuals. "Announcing the much-anticipated shortlist at the start of the show will add even another layer of excitement to what is set to be a thrilling night for everyone." As has been discussed elsewhere on the forum this is arrant tosh. It is intended to restrict choice to those the BBC want and those only; no sports that they don't televise or regard as worthy of an award. If the BBC were honest about it, it might not be quite so bad, but to pretend it is for 'another layer of excitement' .... It will take at least a fire hose to extinguish your pants Barbara! -
Thoughts on 2018 Season
ancient mariner replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
We are probably pretty much agreed that the BSPA doesn't give a rat's backside about the NL. Never has and unlikely to in the future -
One Big League - Problem Solved
ancient mariner replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I didn't realise you are a member of the BSPA -
Natalie Quirk is at least as good and probably a better and more knowledgeable presenter than almost all of her male predecessors. I'll agree that most of the pits interviews are bordering on banal, but who really cares if it is a male or female interviewer? All I want is sensible questions from someone who knows what they are talking about

There was an application for a track near Bodmin some years ago. There were objections from several people living in Sussex on the basis of the noise :barking:
-
How about a figure-of-eight shaped track?
-
You don't ordinarily use 'NL' and 'rules' in the same sentence. And it has been like this forever, it seems

Plymouth v Mildenhall frid 17th aug
ancient mariner replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Agreed Waco. But as has been pointed out, only two of the original Devils team remain, all bar one (Cockle) having succumbed to injury (although you could say that Cockle succumbed to self-inflicted injury). -
Eastbourne v Plymouth (NL)
ancient mariner replied to Mike.Butler's topic in National League Speedway
I'll say. A guest No1, two second strings and (hoping the riders involved will forgive the expression) a rag-tag collection of 3 pointers. Plymouth's injury list is approaching epic proportions -
Boxall given 2 year ban refusing drug test
ancient mariner replied to dazzafl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Perhaps a bit like Danny Bird who never paid his fine and therefore his ban has continued indefinitely. That said, has Boxall been fined? Shocking waste of talent -
NO WORD FROM THE BSPA
ancient mariner replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That would mean 7 lap races at Plymouth! -
What? With the 5 riders available to them?
