Speedway In Cornwall
ancient mariner replied to Truro Robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You will have noted the qualification to my post whereby I stated that I regarded Barncooseboy as the authoritive source of information on this subject and so it has proved. Thank you to BCB for clarifying my approximate and only partially accurate recollection of events. It was quite possibly me who expressed my disappointment at the alleged objection by the NT (which we only now know to have been a fabrication by a person or persons unknown). I certainly stated that I had no intention of renewing my membership, based on my understanding at the time. I now know better. While the anagram of IMERYS was not used specifically in respect of the loss of the Trelawny track, you are surely not going to claim that the anagram never used? You are of course entirely welcome to practice whatever particular activities you wish, with or without the use of KY. I will decline your offer as you appear to be unnecessarily aggressive. -

Let's face it - they had to get their own back. Agincourt. Crecy. Poitiers. Waterloo. Blenheim. Malplacet. Ramilles. Heights of Abraham. Oudinarde. And all the rest! -

[quote name="Ray Stadia" post="2589498" timestamp="1427309024 I went to the track, when on holiday a number of years ago and it looked like an area that had already been mined! Also, I thought English China Clay had specifically allocated the area for speedway, as it was surplus to their needs. Perhaps I am wrong, memory is fading!Leading with my chin here, but here goes! When Trelawney first raced at Nanpean it was in a disused china clay pit. English China Clay (ECC) were then bought out by IMERYS (I believe they were a French company and were famously referred to as the anagram 'Misery'. IMERYS subsequently claimed the workings back (and hence the track) on the basis that they wished to re-commence working the china clay and hence Trelawney were wiped off the map. I'm happy to be corrected - Barncooseboy will be able to give chapter and verse, I'm sure. -

The prime mover for the Fraddon site is now the co-promoter at Plymouth, so you can probably forget Fraddon. Looks as if the Devils are your only likely option. -

When the time comes, can I quote you on this? -
Ever since the Devils were resurrected in 2006 one thing has been amply demonstrated and that is that the SBA confers little or no advantage to the home team. The only thing out of the ordinary is that the track is short (216 meters). Otherwise it has a start and finish line, 4 bends, (short) straights and a fence exactly the same as every other track. If you look at the Devils home results over the years you will see that more than a few teams have found it to be a very fair track.

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.
ancient mariner replied to doners1234's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So as a result of the UK V&I rules, the government decides on who rides in the UK rather than the promoters? But then someone could always maskerade as a speedway rider in order to gain access to the UK .... and one or two from previous seasons spring to mind. -

He said sheepishly -
Thank you all for clarifying my question, even if some were more tactful than others. TBH it's going to be a blessed relief to get the season under way.

Absolutely. The point I'm trying to make is that the mention of a facility was greeted with derision from many contributors. I was merely speculating that the idea of a facility arose from the rules I've quoted. The fact is that the rules are a minefield. By attempting to make them watertight the powers that be have made them full of holes and open to even more interpretation. We have only just witnessed a load MORE rules about restarts and gardening etc when the rules were already there and only had to be applied. Why add more? No doubt the Devils promotion will be in the fullness of time be appraised by the BSPA of any transgression(s) of the rules - after all, the BSPA are the experts. EX - as in 'has been' SPURTS - as in 'drips under pressure'

With respect to whether or not a facility may be acvailable for Fisher, the following quote from Plymouth Devils forum may be relevant: 16.5.2 For an absent Rider with (a) an assessed MA, or ( has been approved in a team’s declared line-up at the start of the season, a 28-day Facility may be granted at MC’s discretion. 16.5.2.2 If the absent Rider has an assessed MA and is a PL#1 (by MA) only RR facility is allowed. I assume that this may be the facility to which the team manager refers? Waits for a proper battering in short order ...
-
Hmmm The second one might be a big ask, though there have been a fair few races of three and even five laps I believe - not all at the SBA either Fair play Najjer. I'm sure that were the Devils to attempt to do something completely misguided that the BSPA would ensure that they were made aware of the error of their ways. Much of what is alleged comes from some pretty imaginative reporting in the Plymouth Herald. Frankly I don't know why the Devil's promotion even bothers talking to them at all.
-
On the basis of making it up as you go along, I would suggest that Brady Kurtz on a 3 and Jack Holder on a 5 is exactly that. Unless of course the Rebels KNEW they were pulling a fast one?
-
No-one likes a speculative frenzy more than I. But TBH there seems little point at present. Far too many ifs, buts and maybes - plus politics and government agencies quite apart freom the madness that is the BSPA and the speedway 'rulebook'. I think I'll just write another article for the Plymouth Herald. Nurse, my head hurts! Where my pills?
-
As has been suggested on the Devil's forum by Mikeyt, wouldn't it be just great if young Jack were to be assessed at a 5 now?
-
Berwick and Glasgow are the only other PL teams that remain able to accomodate Holder. Berwick already have a rider (Jake Allen) on an assessed 7 and Glasgow would only be using 7 of the 8.09 available to them. I would therefore be surprised if either Berwick or Glasgow were to recruit Holder this season. That leaves (by default) Plymouth. Frankly I cannot see Poole allowing Holder to become a Devils' asset, so I assume that there would have to be some kind of 'arrangement' set in place for Holder to become a Devil. While an exciting prospect, it would be likely to leave the Devils vulnerable at reserve unless young Roland Benko shows more of the form he was beginning to show at home before his broken shoulder early last season. So it is a qualified "yes, it could pay off" from me.
-
Somerset have given me - a Devils season ticket holder - a discount whenever I attended the OTA last season (provided the Devild aren't the visitors). While this was only when I enquired about it by E-Mail they were happy to oblige; fair play to a forward thinking promotion. Bit of a trip from Scotland though!
-
So what sport is it that involves posing in your dung hampers?
-
You may mean Zach Wajtknecht Nationality British, lives in Saltford near Bristol.
-
Because I suspect that you may be in a very small minority in your opinion. On the basis that with presumably the honourable exception of Kyle Newman you appear to disapprove of the rest of the riders announced as signing for the 2015 Devils, are there any that you would deem acceptable?
-
Ouch! I suspect this may come back to haunt you. In a list of consistent contributors to the Devils - both riders and promotion - Skippy would be near the top of many people's list.
-
Frankly I hope it is. The Fish is good but so good that he's my choice for the Devils No 1
-
Then it will be an age thing on my part. Drat and double drat! Is Barncooseboy being a tease or what? I guess we'll just have to be patient, but fair play he's got my attention that's for sure.
-
Mikeyt old? Then I've been dead for a century or so Reportedly neither Rasmus nor Kalle will be riding in the UK this year. I would imagine that Ryan would be too expensive. But it would be a good side if you were able to assemble it
-
Yes, you do indeed have a real out and out No 1 in BB. Plus team riding like you wouldn't believe. Enjoy!
