IIRC 'no house within 3 miles'. I guess that all we can do is keep our fingers crossed for someone with the necessary deep pockets to happen by .. -

Was not Andy originally linked with the Rebels? I think he migrating birds were something of an urban myth for a while. My understanding is that the 'nature organisation' (my words) to whom that was attributed actually denied all knowledge and it was subsequently confirmed that there were no outstanding objections to the granting of planning permission. Right on cue the financial slump screwed up everyone's plans ...... since then everything has gone very quiet -

I was going to state that Zach Wajtknecht is as English as you and me. But on reflection, I've no idea whether you're English or not. -

Ah - good point. I didn't do too well there, did I? -
Apologies if this subject has appeared previously I know I did a massive double take when the Plymouth contributor predicted that the Devils finish in 6th place. I also note that he was the only one to correctly predict the top 6, although the correct order eluded even him. I wonder what his lottery numbers are ... Has there been a recent occasion where the top teams were predicted in their correct finishing order? I can't think of one.

Glasgow V Plymouth Play Off Qf
ancient mariner replied to Gazc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Barking. For crying out loud they are forcing the Panthers to ride this week when they/ve three riders missing -
This meeting, together with the one tomorrow at Rye House - weather permitting - are probably the most significant meetings in the Devil's modern history. It would be nice to think that there was a level playing field. I understand it is important to the Scorpions in what might (but hopefully won't) be their final home meeting, but it would be a great shame were the rules to be interpreted 'freely'.

Most riders idea of team riding is to look over their shoulder as they cross the finishing line In recent times Ben Barker. At the SBA in recent seasons he would routinely conjure up a 5-1 from a 4-2 or a 3-3 from a 2-4 by clamping an opposition rider to the kerb and then slowing him down to enable his team mate (in successive seasons, usually either the Fish or Ricky Wells) to go round the outside. He did it so often that it almost became a 'feature' of heat 15 (though not exclusively) and we lost count of the number of times the Devils pinched a tie or a win by a couple of points as a result. Just fabulous to watch and a great pity we don't see it more often - proper team riding!

3 meetings in 3 days for the Devils. Just a little co-operation from the weather gods please ....... -

The difference in points difference(!!!!) is huge at present. The Witches are +140 The Devils are -7 Even with two huge home wins, I honestly can't see the Devils improving their points difference such that they overhaul the Witches in the event of a tie. TBH I'm still pinching myself because for the Devils to be even within a distant shout of 6th place MUST be a dream, surely! -

It's certainly not bad for them! It backs the Devils fixtures up so that their final 4 meetings all have to take place immediately before the cut-off: Home to Berwick 4th Sep Home to Scunthorpe 10th Sep Away to Scunthorpe 11th Sep Away to Rye house TBA No margin for weather or injuries. Unless all these meetings take place before the cut-off, it is virtually impossible for the Devils to make the play-offs. -

Shame about the poor forecast. This is the first in what is arguably the most significant series of meetings the Devils have faced in their modern history. The play-offs beckon, but only with a top quality performance in every one of their four remaining fixtures. I really hope the weather gods don't end up deciding the outcome, but fair play to the Witches who have been in commanding form of late and have racked up lots of points just when it really mattered. The real irony is that it can only be a couple of months ago that we Devils supporters were worrying about finishing bottom of the league. Funny old sport sometimes ... -
Hole. Digging. Stop.

And then there's the weather gods to consider. They like a good larf ...

Somerset V Ipswich 18.8.15
ancient mariner replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As a Devil's supporter I thoroughly enjoyed last night's meeting, right up until Ht 15 Lap 4 Bend 4. Still, I can't complain because as has been said, Brady Kurtz riding the boards is what enabled him to get into the lead in the first place. The Witches fully deserved their consolation point, being good value throughout. Pleased to see Danny King walk away from what was a scary moment. He could so easily have collected two of the other riders on his way into the airfence. -
