  1. Personally wouldn’t blame the track tonight for the defeat, thought it rode ok. Certainly Boughen, who has barely ridden here, had no trouble blasting around the outside. More to do with the make up of the home team imo. As for not doing celebration laps, Bears riders didn’t win enough races to celebrate really. Think the atmosphere was flat as Bears never really looked like fighting back and we have lost 3 out of 4 home meetings so far.
  2. Don’t be fooled by the final score line (two late Bears 5-1’s made it look closer), this was a comfortable win for the Scorpions. A much better team performance than when they won by 6 points a few weeks ago. Very solid performance from the main body of the team and a superb showing from their guest, Boughen at reserve. Seems to have been struggling so far but he was brilliant tonight. So much speed for a 16 year old and he was a joy to watch. Definitely a star in the making. Bears benefited from a fantastic performance from Riss and the usual good show from Wright but the rest of the main body of the team scored 11 from 12 rides, which isn’t good enough to win at home. If Riss had been at 1 and out first race and Bailey not fallen off when 3rd on Heat 9 then Bears might have got something out of the meeting, but the better team won.
  3. We quite often get controversial outcomes when there is a tight finish at Redcar. A lot of us were convinced Wright edged out Batchelor in Heat 13 last week but the result went the other way. I thought Mountain had won the race you mentioned too.
  4. Harder for home meetings as Friday is normally a busy night in the championship, but still some decent options.
  5. I think Scunthorpe’s riders have a liking for Redcar in comparison with the last 2 away tracks visited and given they won here a few weeks ago it's unlikely to be a stuffing. Be nice to have a home meeting where all 7 Bears click, not happened yet.
  6. As long as it not Sedgmen! More seriously, Danny had a very unfortunate start to the season. Hopefully not out for too long.
  7. Tate reared up coming out of turn 4, just after Danny came off and came off the back of the bike on the home straight. Came out for his second rude but came off again and was withdrawn. Don’t think it’s anything too serious hopefully.
  8. The racing early on was processional but there were some cracking races later on, the races between Wright and Bachelor were superb (thought Wright won Heat 13 from my position). To suggest that this was some underhand tactic from Redcar is quite frankly laughable and makes you look a bit daft. Bears still having no luck with injuries, although Kings absence was slightly levelled out by Zischke withdrawing too (hope both are ok) but the team rallied and Bailey and Knudsen gave Wright excellent support. Special mention to Mulford who was much improved. Better signs for the team. For the Comets that’s the best I’ve seen Batchelor ride in a long time and Vissing had a couple of good rides but Cook faded after a good start and the rest were inconsistent. Makes the second leg interesting at least.
  9. Posted before Heat 13 I assume which was an absolutely superb race. Oh and I enjoyed Jake Mulford passing Craig Cook in Heat 11.
  10. Workington and Redcars website both had it the other way around.
  11. Edwards now back at 2 and Knudsen at 4 on the press releases I’ve seen.
  12. Got to add in the fact Redcars top two are both battered and bruised after their recent crashes so not sure they will be 100% tomorrow. Hopefully the rest of the team will show the improvement of last week.
  13. The BBC sold off their weather forecasting to the highest bidder, which going on its usual accuracy was some bloke who looks at of his window and guesses. I stopped using it ages ago. This seems like a very dodgy decision to me (and I’m not associated with either club)
  14. Wondered why Trigger was in Heat 13, does seem a strange rule and unfair on the team affected (Redcar in this instance) Really nasty looking incident, hope Danny is not too badly hurt.
  15. Was out all afternoon and following via updates. Seems like a decent meeting. Well done to the Comets. Bears having not much luck to start the season, losing both top riders in consecutive days isn’t great when the team hasn’t been firing anyway. Hopefully both lads are not too badly hurt. Good return from Jonas but Edwards had a poor return after a good night last night and I expected Bailey to score better to be honest.
  16. No, they always wait until after the first second half race to let the winners do a lap of honour. Not a snub to Scorpions at all. Car park is pretty treacherous to walk through in the dark, especially if it has been wet.
  17. New track man this year, track hasn’t offered much in terms ofgood racing the first couple of team meetings at least. Like Boz said I don’t think the weather has helped and hopefully just early season issues.
  18. Confirmed as Justin Sedgmen now guesting for Charles.
  19. Another week where the Bears start well, then fade badly and lose. Bigger defeat than last week but probably more encouraging performance (if that makes sense?). Meeting changed when Charlie, who only had one completed ride, took a really awkward tumble over his handlebars and hurt his shoulder and Bears had to use IRR. The race he was injured in was turning into the best race of the night and his loss was too much for the inconsistent Bears to overcome. Edwards, Bailey and Knudsen all showed much better flashes this week, which was encouraging but the team overall is still too hit and miss. King started well but faded and was poor when it mattered most. Scorpions are a strong team with a lot of riders who like Redcar so I was expecting a defeat and given the circumstances it’s not all doom and gloom for the Bears. Crowd seemed significantly down from last week which is a worry although it was a bitterly cold night.
  20. Knudsen now riding tomorrow as Poland been postponed. Wright withdrawn tonight now too, so must be a doubt for tomorrow. Update: Wright officially out, Riss guesting.
  21. Well in this case Jonas had already signed for his Polish club and only signed for Redcar after TJ said he wouldn’t be fit to ride. Probably makes the Bears stronger in this case, hopefully Connor can score some points after a difficult start for the Bears.
  22. Redcar riding order change - Knudsen moved to 2, Edwards to 4.
  23. On paper this is a tougher meeting than last week for the Bears. 3 ex Bears in the Scorpions line up, plus Howarth and Lambert who both score well at Redcar. Need a much better performance from the Bears or it will be another home loss I fear.
  24. Replacing King with Riss doesn’t solve Redcars problems of not having a third rider currently being able to be a consistent heat leader. Losing TJ so late gave the promotion limited options with who they could replace him with. It’s also very early days, I’m sure of riders aren’t performing as the season progresses, changes will happen.
