  1. Really enjoyable meeting. Yeah, it's nice to see your team win. But it's even better to see good racing. Don't think it was a case of Comets reserves being particularly weak, more a combination of a really strong Bears reserve pairing, alongside a missing Jakobsen. That meant a struggling Comets pair had to take 10 rides between them (would've been 11 without a tac ride). I mean, Redcars reserves got a 5-1 over Howarth! Finding a decent 5pt guest for Jakobsen is always gonna be tough, and rr needs 1 of your reserves to be scoring points. And against Redcar that's a big ask. At least Jody Scott won't be at reserve all season, although whoever replaces him will still leave them with a strong reserve pairing. Comets top 4 all rode well. Klindt outstanding once again round Northside, the fact Jeppeson gave him a race in ht 15 speaks volumes about how well he's riding.
  2. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18NBTuTUoE/ Max Perry signs
  3. Seems to be an annual topic this, is Craig Cook worth the risk? He's just about as good as anyone in this league on his day. But I've lost count how many last chances he's had, how many times he's gone AWOL and let people down. Ability - yes. Reliability - no.
  4. There's a big genny in the pits. The old track used to be connected to the grid via a pole mounted tranny, somewhere around the 4th bend. Unfortunately it burnt down some time ago. So the infrastructure has been there previously.
  5. Yeah, its been a long time Paul! Hopefully catch up next season 🤞 I was lucky enough to be in hospitality yesterday so avoided the dust on 1 & 2 😬 Got to watch hts 12 & 13 from the centre green, great battle between Dan and Tate 👍
  6. I often sit in the bend 1 stand and the dust can be bad with even a slight South or south westerly breeze. Whenever that is the case I stand on turns 3 & 4 now.
  7. Track has been much slicker lately than it was today. Plenty of opportunities to pass, sure I remember Hook going round Harris, most other Comets had to produce at least one pass today, and both Tigers managed to relegate Batch to the back in ht 13 (after he'd also come from the back in an earlier ht). Some of what I'm reading on here is utter nonsense, I've seen a hell of a lot worse meetings than that.
  8. I tend to agree with the gaters paradise comment, certainly for the majority of this season. The excitement has come from the closeness of the meeting scores, most of the passing is done by turn 2 lap 1 and getting round the outside of anyone turns 3 & 4 has proven virtually impossible. This hasn't always been the case, yeah you couldn't do it on lap 4 because the start/finish line comes up to quickly, but you could get the nod into turn 1 on previous laps. Still, I've enjoyed most meetings, we've had some nice weather which has been great for watching, just maybe not quite as good for track prep. I do think the track has the potential to produce better racing than it has lately, and it proved that last season.
  9. Nothing short of embarrassing. 3 good meetings and then back to the pre-suspension nonsense. Bought the stream but all that's done is convince me to stick with the GP tomorrow and not bother with the Plymouth one. Ditched it for Leigh - Warrington now, at least it's competitive. Hope Jye isn't too badly beat up after his nasty looking off.
  10. I was out in Whitehaven with a few m8's last Friday and one of them said to me that I was the only person he knows who likes speedway. Non of the others watch speedway, in fact some were surprised to hear the sport was still on the go.
  11. Berwick obviously not expecting this to be sorted anytime soon 👀
  12. So would this mean that, when we ran last Saturday, we didn't have a promoters licence?
  13. That would make more sense, perhaps a search of companies house could be in order?
  14. Unfortunately we're mainly a team of riders in positions that they shouldn't be in. Tate and Anti aren't heat leaders, the same as Jay and Taylor aren't second strings. So we find ourselves with 2 second strings and 4 reserves. And Troy, who to be fair needs to pick up 15 points per meeting to even keep us competitive. Which he'll never do, unless he makes 5 worldy starts.
  15. Signing number 3 incoming, 7 am tomorrow.
  16. Reds at home as well, they were 2 to 3 hundred down on last week.
  17. Tough saddled with a 4pt average, a millstone that isn't going away any time soon. Tidy rider, quick when in clear air (around Northside anyway) , gating is pants though and that lets her down hugely.
  18. CV's away average is pretty good. He's been poor at home (it was like Vissing vs Workington and Oxford the other week) but I guess we'd struggle to find anyone to match him away from home.
  19. I'm waiting for some news from the comets management before celebrating tbh, not that I'm wanting to sound negative.
  20. Well at least we know there is a chance we could be running next season, so that's positive. Points limit had to be reduced, the difference between the top two leagues this season was virtually nothing.
  21. Workington lost a similar amount by all accounts. Success on track didn't generally lead to the required increase in attendances, coupled to more outlay (points money) and no prize money the losses soon mount up. Although with losses at these sort of levels it does beg the question of how much tracks really can afford to pay riders?
