  1. Good to hear he’s still going strong. Wish him all the best from Sarah and me. I’m a Bandits season pass holder these days, purely a financial decision, but will always be a Rocket at heart. Hopefully I’ll be able to get down s couple of times a season should the Rockets return
  2. I think he was a Newcastle guest when I saw the Bandits race there last year. He didn’t do too badly.
  3. I remember him battling with the speedway authorities to get Rasmussen and Schroeck into the National League.
  4. Reflecting on the Ronnie Russell years at Rye House... Pretty poor results wise, but at least we made a KOC Final. Highlight was Jens Rasmussen winning the 1988 Grand Slam at Oxford. One of my favourite days supporting the Rockets. Never spoke to the guy, but grew to appreciate his efforts keeping the club going in difficult times
  5. Sensible. He could do with the practice round there. Maybe the rumours of him signing for Armadale were wide of the mark
  6. Berwick Rangers must need the speedway rent more than ever now they’re languishing in the non leagues. Can’t imagine football attendances average much above 500
  7. Kevin Doolan on standby should Jye Etheridge not be fit for the start of the season?
  8. I think they’re usually out in late Jan/early Feb
  9. Saw them play live when they were a seven piece band around 1980
  10. Talking of merchandise, any jackets or caps next season?
  11. That’s interesting. You’re saving 83p a meeting on last years offer, so in theory a £3 programme will cost £2.17 in real terms. If you share a programme or don’t bother (you can generate and print a scorecard online) you’re paying £12,44 a meeting.
  12. I’ve got to be honest and say I’m disappointed. I fully understand they have to work to a budget, but this has the look of a side that will struggle near the bottom of the league table. Didn’t expect to see Gappmaier and Garcia back.
  13. I suspect he’ll keep his license going. Don’t be surprised if you see him back on a bike at some stage
  14. It’ll all be down to the clubs budget and the riders pay demands.
  15. Although concerning to read about problems at Newcastle
  16. The Berwick public won’t like this. No local derbies, a probable increase in admission prices and the fact that the local council won’t allow regular midweek meetings. It’ll kill the club off
  17. Unless Berwick are running on Saturdays this ain’t happening
  18. First speedway meeting I ever attended. Rye House Rockets 38 Poole Wildcats 40 September 1985 Names I remember from that side. Steve Schofield, David Biles, Stan Bear, Kevin Smith. I think it was either Poole or Ellesmere Port who won the National League that year
  19. I got my 26 quids worth. A very entertaining evening
