Rye House V Ipswich (pl)... 1st September @ 6pm
Shadders replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Stan, who sits with us at Rye House, pointed out that excluding guest Jason Doyle none of the two sides on track yesterday had a rider with an average above 7. Surely a second division record? -
Berwick Vs. Edinburgh (pl) Saturday Sept 1st, 7.00pm

Heard that Facundo Albin (not sure if that's the correct spelling) is a definite starter next year. Can someone explain why he comes in on a 5 point average? -
Very impressed with young Connor, looks a real prospect. Luke Chessell could be another one if he can stay on his bike. Some heart in the mouth moments, especially Connor Coles who went into bend 3 of heat 12 with far too much speed, but managed to hold off the chasing Islanders. Ride of the night over the 30 races. Brilliant guest in Stefan Nielsen. I make that 11 races unbeaten in the NL at Rye House. How on earth did he manage to stay upright in one heat (13?) when it looked like he was destined for the second bend fence? Hope Ben is ok after his fall. I was by the 4th bend, but people around me said he was up and ok. First time I've stayed for an entire NL meeting in ages and very pleased that I did. Not that I had much choice as i returned to my car after the meeting to find i'd been blocked in! Definitely contemplating the next Raiders home meeting if I can persuade the other half.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts. Simon Lambert doesn't look like the answer. Lord knows why he was signed. He'd have been better off staying at Stoke on what I've seen. His awkward style just isn't suited for the tight Rye track. Agree we've missed Jason Garrity. Found myself looking at the fixtures wishing the rest of the season away. Overhaul needed during the winter, otherwise crowds will drop off even further. Tremendous heat 15. Always a pleasure watching Jason Doyle. -

Stefan is half English. That would put Ipswich over the non English limit -

Not had it myself recently, but I'm told the quality at the Rye chippy has gone downhill. £16 for 30 heats of speedway... You'd be mad to miss it! -

Last time I went through it was 50p, but that was a couple of years ago -
Most Exciting Riders From The 80's And 90's
Shadders replied to Dudleywood4eva's topic in Years Gone By
During his stay at Rye House Martin Goodwin was without doubt the most exciting rider I saw at the time. -

Jason Doyle must be close to having as many guest booking for Rye as he did as an actual team member last year! Great choice! -
There's only one way that average would go... No thanks!

Late Availability Cardiff Rooms

Spent half an hour or so in there late on Saturday night. Plenty of speedway riders in there (sorry Trees), could've been either of those. No sign of Mickey Dyer -
Mildenhall V Dudley Sun 19th Aug 16:30
Shadders replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Lucky you weren't there on Monday for the Leicester meeting. Rarely have a decent afternoon meeting at Rye House -
Perhaps he's getting his average low enough to race in the National League next year. His confidence must be shot to pieces after his enforced time out of speedway. Dudley will need someone to replace Adam Roynon.
-
What would a 6.85 EL average equate to in the PL? I suppose you mean Coventry's number one.
-
His average is only going one way. Last resort as far as I'm concerned which probably means he's a dead cert.

I've only ever seen 2 or 3 top division league meetings in 27 years watching speedway. It's only recently that I've started to watch anything but Rye House meetings, thanks to B4E's influence. In the mid to late 80's I took in some Wimbledon, Hackney and Arena Essex home meetings that didn't involve Rye House, but I was single then with more disposable income. I'm sure I'll knock off those last few tracks over the next couple of years.

Looks well over at first glance.

Dudley Heathens V Rye House 28.08.12 19:30
Shadders replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
Not sure if Stoke can afford to move up. They lost a bucket full of money in the Premier League. In the current economic climate I very much doubt they would contemplate a move back. Mildenhall's crowds dropped off during their final PL years. I remember some pretty poor sides they put out. Didn't they go through a season losing all but one home meeting, against Kings Lynn? Not sure how their support has held up since they dropped down. Would Dudley contemplate a move up without a track of their own? The support base is easily enough for them to be a PL side. They'd be a welcome addition if they can control the hooligan element amongst their supporters who give the ordinary decent Dudley fans a bad name.
