As a Leicester fan we're a bit of a Johnny come lately to the pay off scene. The 2 seasons we have been involved have been a bit of a farce with our previous final appearances happening on a Tuesday night in Glasgow and at King's Lynn in Novemeber! In another life I was a Cov fan and we had some great pay off nights and the only dodgy one I can remember was a weather effected pudding of a track against Poole at Brandon. As a neutral with no skin in the game, not really caring when they take place, I think they're pretty good as it doesn't really matter to me when I sit on my sofa and watch it. But as a follower of a team involved it can make it a bit of a lottery. Track conditions, 2nd leg "advantage", rider availability and the number of races (heat 10 call off) all come into play with the possible pressure from TV companies to ensure meetings take place when perhaps they shouldn't. This year has been the biggest farce yet, with the rigging of the Semi's, the weather and it possibly ain't over yet as it's currently pishing it down outside in Leicester as I write this on Tuesday morning with no let up in sight today! Shortening or lengthening the season is not an answer, you could have held the pay offs in July with the same result. Is the "pay off" of 2 (fixed) semis and a final really worth the devaluing of every league meeting that takes place throughout the whole season? For me, probably not anymore.

Get Wozniak in and Cairns when he's eligible and Hancock can mentor them both together at Leicester, heck get Magic in while they're at it and Greg can make a come back too... maybe I've gone a little far there πΆβπ«οΈ

Let's hope he doesn't take a leaf from Ivan Mauger's book and miss it to prepare for the meeting. Hopefully it'll be good weather, 2 full teams... and a Lions victory π¦ π π

There's many factors to take into consideration though, not least the track, there was a hell of an outside line there last night for those that there brave enough to use it... but when you're at Cardiff, Riga, Prague or Vojens the gate pick will be far more important -

Thanks! I think it shows that there's no real difference in scoring systems, it's just that one is a hell of a lot easier to work out come crunch time than the other. I went to Parken a couple of times and some of the sights I saw with folk the worse for wear for drink... one lad bouncing down the steps on his arse carrying one of them drinks holders with 6 pints in it because he lost his footing as he couldn't control his legs! While I agree, as a purist, it's about the racing and competition you can't deny that a weekend in Copenhagen is a far better prospect than a weekend somewhere near Vojens... Skol π»
