  1. Is this Nora thing... still a thing? I noticed IoW were riding the other night and there were a few riders who compete in the NDL. I didn't think riders could ride in both? I know promoters can't or even lease their facilities out. Which also raises the question could the likes of Steve Boxhall, Lee Complin, Richie Worrall ride in Nora? Isn't it their SCB licences that have been suspended? Do SCB have jurisdiction over Nora? They could even give Covatti & Musielak a run out lol
  2. And they can have Cook back if they want him
  3. imo, it gives the best indication of how a rider is performing in Poland
  4. Erm... the SoN is being held in Manchester, England
  5. I take it that once you're over 16 it's compulsory to move to 500's? A shame if so as the 3 meetings (SGP3) that I've seen with the kids have generally been better than 90% of the modern day 500cc meetings that I've seen. It'd be interesting to know what a modern day 250cc bike would be comparable to in terms of the 500cc era's
  6. There's something quite refreshing about watching SGP 3, I'm not normally one for junior racing but these kids are absolutely the cream of the crop and fantastically talented. I don't know if it makes a difference but it looks like there's a fine line of being too big for the 250's. Cairns seems to have had a bit of a growth spurt since last year and almost appears too big for the 250's. I got the same impression with Mikkel Andersen from 2022 when he won it and 2023 when it looked as if he'd overgrown the 250 and didn't win. Unfortunately though, for whatever reason, historically the previous rostrum winners never usually amount to much. I wonder why? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedway_Youth_World_Championship?wprov=sfla1 Comparing it to the European Under-19 Individual Speedway Championship, ridden on 500cc machines it's a completely different tale, the 500's must be different beasts. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Under-19_Individual_Speedway_Championship
  7. Poland is not the be all and end all of the speedway world though
  8. BRITISH SPEEDWAY AGM STATEMENT THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2022 And a significant development is a tie-up between the BSPL and MYLAPS which will see transponders rolled out to all Premiership and Championship clubs during the 2023 season. This technology will provide accurate information for live timing, and assist in resolving close finishes, and will also be made available to Eurosport and the British Speedway Network for use during their broadcasts. We're now in the 2nd half of 2024 and it appears that not all tracks are using them... although Picko had just indicated they are being used.
  9. A bit rude and overly aggressive but it's not a duplicate thread, it's a thread with, hopefully now, the correct date (a bit of finger trouble). A polite note would have sufficed. I thought having a thread with the correct date on may just grab people who didn't know it was on to maybe attend and boost the SRBF coffers, I probably shouldn't have bothered.
  10. Is that like reading this forum with your eyes closed?
  11. Line up Danny King (Redcar/Ipswich) Ben Barker (Plymouth) Simon Lambert (Scunthorpe) Justin Sedgmen (Edinburgh/Birmingham) Paul Starke(Glasgow) Norick Blodorn (Belle Vue) Kyle Howarth (Scunthorpe/Sheffield) Craig Cook (Workington/Leicester) Lewis Kerr (Berwick/Oxford) Dan Bewley
  12. This is all about transparency and consistency for me... because the SCB were so quick to jump on Plymouth with the Nico Covatti situation, they then, surely, had to (be seen) to apply the same rules (and sanctions) to Musielak and Kurtz... I'm not entirely sure this has happened. Because British Speedway likes to think it operates in its own bubble they have to word their statements so carefully that they end up making no sense. If a rider had aggravated an injury abroad, say so, it happens, if foreign clubs are persuading riders to miss matches over here, call them out and say so.
  13. You're making it sound like Garrity is the victim! I was all for giving him a 2nd chance... but he blew it before he even got a team spot anywhere, unbelievable.
  14. Last week I think... Lemo mentioned 2 dates on the British speedway podcast, both of which have now passed. I'm sure 1 was for the squad and the other for the teams. I could be wrong though I wasn't fully listening
  15. Belle Vue are paying to stage the meeting, they're paying the FIM & WBD... it's then down to them to make it pay themselves with ticket entry, parking, programme sales etc. Reading between the lines it also sounds like the council are expecting to see "world" events held at the stadium, I assume so the promotion keeps receiving some kind of subsidy. It almost sounds like the whole clubs future has been bet on the SoN
  16. I was just listening to last weeks British Speedway podcast and Lemo was on it commenting on the British Final crowd and said that it was a near sell out... but wondered whether it had been held on a Monday night if it could have attracted a bigger crowd as when it was rained off on a Sunday a few years back and held on a Monday it actually attracted a bigger crowd. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it the other way around, it was abandoned on the Monday and re-staged on a Sunday, I remember this because I went to the Sunday re-staging as it was a much more attractive proposition than a Monday night meeting. You have to wonder where Lemo's head is at some times! You also have to wonder whether the over half a million pounds that the promotion are spending on staging the SoN would be better spent on getting the stadium filled for league matches? Blowing it all on a 5h1t or bust event or build up your attendances and fan base to lessen any risk in the future. I realise they probably think they're in the running to stage a GP, especially as it's the last year of the Cardiff contract this year and we'll probably not be heading back there as the crowds have halved since the exciting new WBD era.
  17. I go and get a free coffee every week from Greggs, as I used to have my energy supplied by Octopus and they give me a code every week, even though I left them months ago they still haven't closed my account down! There's no way I'd go and pay £2 for a coffee every week even though I do enjoy my freebie. It's just too much trouble and I don't feel I'm massively missing out by not having my coffee
  18. Personally I don't see a problem... we already have category's of championships, U16, U19, U21, U23, European, British etc. This is just another category
  19. A much improved away performance from the Lions but that wouldn't have been difficult after the pathetic display at Ippo. Can't help but think that r/r scoring only 4 flattered us a bit. Usual suspects not performing but on the plus side Fricke riding like a number 1 at last. Some great speedway racing tonight
  20. But even then as good as a TV league match is to watch on the TV, it's deathly dull when you're actually in attendance with the extended delays while the TV people are doing their Tv things. Until this is addressed, along with the cost, Tv meetings will never attract any sort of crowd unless it's a play off
