British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events As good as Brennan has been so far tonight and he's improved a great deal this season, he's been very much a nearly man, nearly qualified for the SEC, nearly qualified for the GP Challenge... he's got to seal the deal tonight!

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events Don't think I've ever seen such a topsy turvy British Final!

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events But has Brennan won anything on the big stage when it mattered? That's why I say if he can wrap this up then get him in!

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events That'd be a ballsy call to make. If Brennan can win this thing then maybe yes

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway The Scunthorpe "safety" fence is not on his side, to put the blame on Schlein's body is pretty low!

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway It just needs some properly absorbant fencing in front of the armco, the foam fence just isn't absorbant enough when backed to a rigid structure... not to mention the crappy gym mats placed between the armco and the foam barrier!!! You shouldn't be sustaining the injuries Schlein has by colliding with a foam or air fence... end of!

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events It's more of an invitational then? Seems strange to have a qualifier for the U21 but not the senior championship

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events What is the qualification criteria for the British Final at the moment?

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway I've seen video of the crash and if there had been an air fence, which were prevalent at that time, Ricky Ashworth would not have sustained the injuries he did. There's also video footage of the Zaine Kennedy crash, again caused by there being no energy absorption or dissipation by Scunthorpe's so called "safety" fence.

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Yes, it is my opinion... I doubt that any energy absorption tests have been carried out at any of the tracks with their different combination of fence construction. It would be interesting to see those results if tests have been carried out. It's common sense that an airbag in front of a springy wire mesh fence is going to be a hell of a lot better than a foam bag in front of a metal fence in front of a solid wall of soil or concrete.

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Off the top of my head, Joe Alcock, Zaine Kennedy and Ricky Ashworth

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway It's a play on words... I'm calling you a tosspot, but if you hadn't have started off with an abusive post maybe we could have had a civilised debate. I'm not disputing anything that happened after the incident, it was what it was... it just keeps happening at Scunthorpe though because your "safety" fence isn't up to muster
-
Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway See above; energy absorption and dissipation, if Schlein had hit any other fence in the land, maybe with the exception of King's Lynn he'd have walked away

Scunthorpe vs Berwick - Championship - 7/6/24IainB replied to BacktrackBandit's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway What sits behind Berwick's fence? What sits behind Scunthorpe's fence? It's all about energy Absorption and dissipation

British Final 2024IainB replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events There seems to be a bit of a gap (if that's the right word) between the riders that have left the U21 ranks and the "old timers" that compete in the British Final... maybe it's time to re-introduce the qualifiers or an U24 championship?
