I'm not sure whether that was a good thing or not tbh... Is any Speedway, however farcical at times, better than no Speedway? Having witnessed the goings on over (at least) the last 2 years I'm not sure it is.

Hasn't he put them through hell? ๐ค

Because he's a contracted Glasgow Tigers rider? -
I can think of better causes to give to than a bunch of mercenary Speedway riders.

If he's spaffed well north of half a mill during his tenure to get the results he has then he's either completely mad or has been very poorly advised!

They'd just have a facility for him the whole year... I was thinking more Poole, they still seem to love him down there and that's probably more his level these days -
Waiting for tales of all the great meetings/memories from the Manchester dog track to flood this topic ๐

Could maybe see Magic heading to the south coast with an average like that... what would it convert to? -
Kingโs Lynn Stars vs Oxford Spires - 18.08.25

Yes, but... I dare say that if Peterborough and Wolverhampton were still in operation then Oxford would still be riding in the CL & NDL only. They came "up" with Birmingham when the 2 aforementioned clubs ceased operation to make the numbers up for a viable PL to operate and keep the TV people happy. -
Looking at Fricke's astonishing win in heat 6 again on video and it looked a very spurious call from the ref... Is it the 3rd year now of transponders and they appear still not to be working correctly at all tracks, it was announced that the ref made his decision based on watching the video. Also, there were problems with the automated starting systema over at King's Lynn on Monday... Technology and British Speedway don't seem a great mix.

There's one on here who wouldn't open his curtains to watch speedway from Leicester... but there is another who might have watched on BSN as he wouldn't have been bothered by the non existent dust watching it on a TV screen ๐ You win some, you lose some ๐ -

Plymouth v Redcar - 16th August

I think it should apply in all leagues... not sure why you come looking for an argument all the time ๐คทโโ๏ธ Do you not care that a team containing only 2 of it's actual riders can race for league points... or that their No 1 can elect not to participate because his other Polish team is racing the next day?!? Do you not want to see Speedway taken seriously by the media and sporting public? Do you think it's right that a team can be docked 2 league points without any reference to a specific SCB Regulation? I'm not getting into last year's play offs again, you can read my comments about those on the relevant topic threads, if you're that interested. -
... Or Alan Partridge ๐

Against King's Lynn!
-
It is only Becker's 2nd match back after a very lengthy layoff... plenty more matches for him to get race fit before the pay offs (Polish club permitting)
-
What about on the finish line of the last lap... surely that counts? ๐ค๐

Lovely pass of Brennan by Masters... B4L1 though... so it obviously doesn't count.

Plymouth v Redcar - 16th August
IainB replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The meeting should go ahead but not as a league meeting, Redcar should have been awarded the points, it seems pretty obvious that those that did attend don't really care about the integrity of a sporting league, so I doubt it would effect the crowd much... if at all. -

I get the context, my point is a sport, that wants to see itself as being taken seriously by the wider sporting public, should not be allowing teams to race for league points when there's only 2 of it's regular members riding. The fact that the rules allow this is why Speedway in the UK is in the state it is. Compare Speedway to a professional sport where their ruling body did step in: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/articles/cjeyz09313do -

First of all, if you took the trouble to read some of my previous posts about the Plymouth "team", you'll see that I have given them praise. I totally understand why Plymouth fielded such a team because they've been ravaged by injury and they've let their Number 1 completely shaft them. This is not about Plymouth though, don't try and convince me that a "team" of 2 Plymouth riders should be taken seriously in a so called professional team Sport, it was only fit for a Best Pairs event. If they want to run the meeting, fine, great, get a big crowd in on a Saturday night, I'm happy for them... there's no way on this earth any league points gained by such a team, whoever they may be, should be added to their league tally, the points should have been forfeited before a wheel was turned. As the guest system is a necessity to run Speedway in the UK, I think 3 guests should be the limit for any team (and even that's not desirable), meaning at least the majority (3 riders + R/R) is riding for the named "team" in an event.
