  1. Listening to Peter Facenna on the British Speedway podcast it sounds like changes maybe afoot or... business as usual!
  2. Maths was never my strong point ๐Ÿ™ƒ I wonder how that compared to the rent at PB?
  3. Steady didn't look too impressed with that coin toss... where's that other woman when you need her ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  4. It's been a close match with some decent racing, yes it's been too dusty, but that's not affecting me sat in my arm chair at home... I wouldn't be happy with it if I were there though.
  5. It's been quite the collapse from Oxford, I thought they were going to get the bonus point a few races ago!
  6. Stewart Dickson will be worried for his job if they do ๐Ÿ˜‚
  7. Had it only once... Got it on the plane over to Florida... Spent 10 days in bed... Came home... Never want it again!
  8. He's not been diving off bridges as well has he... looks like there's a bit of northern flu doing the rounds
  9. Read my post again, I didn't claim he said a return was imminent... seems like you want an argument though, so you'll read what you want to.
  10. Always is at Oxford... seems to produce some decent action usually though
  11. It's not from anything that I've read, it's more from what I've heard from a number of podcasts and on BSN. I didn't want to single him out but okay, you've forced my hand... @IanBrannan I know he's on here and will read this, so I'll start off by saying he produces great podcasts and does a stellar job on BSN and while I understand it's great to have a glass half full outlook on life, I'm more of a pragmatist. I don't know which club you support but what you've got to understand is that us Cov fans put up with a lot of ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ’ฉ from Mick Horton who strung us out for his last couple of years, whenever he was asked anything about the future of the club the same old replies kept coming, there's stuff going on behind the scenes, we're looking at sites, I can't say too much at the moment. So when I hear things these days like the return of Speedway to Coventry may be closer than you think my first reaction in the face of any real news on this front is I've heard it all before. Especially when we've seen the closure of many clubs over the years, remember the roof at Odsal? Remember we're just dotting the i's and crossing the t's for Long Eaton's new stadium and it still goes on today more recently with Wolverhampton, there's a site 15 miles away... Swindon and their new just off the M4 track. Like I've said before, nothing would please me more than to see the return of Speedway to Brandon but to be told we're following a "doom monger narrative" when commenting on the information we actually have in the public domain is difficult to take. Some others may come at it with a bit more of a sledgehammer approach but I'm not going to give up hope, but at the moment that is all it still is... hope ๐Ÿ™
  12. Absolutely ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป As a Bees fan at the time of their closure we had to put up with a lot of BS from the promoter. Once he was off the scene the SCS team have done an excellent job in getting to the point we are at today. We're now being given the impression, with the language being used, that a return of Speedway to Brandon is almost imminent. Until there's reports that BE are considering selling the site I will keep my yellow and black ๐ŸŸกโšซ๏ธ bunting in the shed.
  13. I really don't want to get into an argument... but do you know if BE are ready to sell?
  14. I could be wrong but didn't Neil Machin join somebody as promoter somewhere to kind of guide them in their first years of promotion and offer advice etc. Before standing back? I'm pretty sure he did, can't remember where though, it may even have been at Leicester or Sheffield when the Bates took over. That's what Tolley needed imo.
  15. If it wasn't so sad it was quite comical listening to his interview, the shirts, that he's responsible for, not having the word Speedway written on them! His head completely in the clouds regarding the Alexander stadium! ยฃ6,000 rent per meeting, meaning tickets for his 600 crowd would have to start at ยฃ100 before you even get to thinking about paying riders, cloud cuckoo land, why even mention it as a possibility, he may as well have gone to Villa Park! A fool and his money are easily parted, he obviously knows how to make and sell badges, but like you say running a Speedway promotion not so much, he needed better people around him I think, and now he's talking about inflicting the same process on another club, it beggars belief!
  16. Surely it's better to come back in a challenge match as opposed to a league match, it's only a competitive test session after all. The 2-3 month recovery period for a dislocated hip that some have mentioned seems a bit long, Google quotes 12-16 weeks for a dislocated shoulder, Kyle Howarth popped his out the other week and was riding again a week or so later.
  17. Rob Lyon said on the British Speedway podcast, that the trouble with his teams make up is that it's difficult to cover for R/R... I would have thought that having a team full of 6 and 7 pointers, it's the ideal team make up to cover for R/R as you've not got 1 or 2 big guns and then nothing after that. The reason they lost against Sheffield was partly due to a poor performance from your number 1 and a freak score from Lewis Kerr.
  18. I think it said on today's British Speedway podcast that Joe Thompson will be taking his place.
  19. Has anybody heard Nigel Tolley on this week's British Speedway podcast? 32 mins in:
  20. Having been a Leicester, Long Eaton and Coventry fan I've heard a lot of BS over the years. As a Wolves fan you're early on your journey to a return and there has already been some false hope. As for the current outbreak of optimism, as I've said before, unless we're not being told something we're in exactly the same place we were a year ago, and until the site is acquired we'll remain in that same position. Slightly related, listening to Nigel Tolley on the British Speedway Podcast, some people just cant help themselves coming out with yet more BS!
  21. Part of me is thinking, if all the riders were available to ride at noon on a Bank Holiday Monday, why was this fixture not originally arranged for noon on a BHM? They've now left themselves 5 days to "promote" this meeting!
  22. If it needs 6, 5 or even 4 man teams, so be it. The current model is obviously not working.
