  1. I tend to watch on Live/Delay anyway... a bit like the F1, maybe give them half an hour start and FF through all the filler and hope to end at about the same time
  2. probably better... as from what I've seen in the past they do tend to have looooong delays for track grades etc. and as there's no presenting team there's no filler... saves me fast forwarding through it all
  3. Ekstraliga being shown live on Premier Sports @ £9.99 a month for 6 month contract... think I may have a punt for that price, especially as I've spent £0.00 on Speedway so far this year!
  4. well he certainly shows a tremendous lack of empathy with his "victims"
  5. And the relevance to Mr Garrity?
  6. I listened through earbuds to cut away background noise... it's well worth a listen
  7. Unfortunately that's what Sean sounds like... try playing it at half speed, it then makes perfect sense Seriously though, I thought the Sean Wilson podcast was very insightful
  8. Monday April 27, 2020 BRITISH Speedway is unlikely to resume behind closed doors. Rob Godfrey, chairman of the British Speedway Promoters Ltd, has stated the financial impact of no fans makes meetings unviable. Poland’s top league look set to start their season on June 12 with no spectators – but they have record levels of revenue from TV and sponsorship deals. Godfrey said: “As a sport in the UK under the current financial structure it’s not possible for us to run behind closed doors. “The only way it could happen is if revenue came in to underpin it, but right now we cannot see it happening so all talk of this is irrelevant.” https://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/news.php?extend.38043
  9. Probably something for a different thread, but it amazes me watching back through clips, especially in this country, of the high throughput of riders who never really "make it" and when I say make it I mean hold down a regular spot in the main body of a team. I don't know how Speedway compares to other sports for throughput of talent but you only have to have a look through the speedway updates site from a few years ago to see the amount of riders who don't "make it"
  10. So that's what happens after a meeting is rained off and we've all left the stadium... thought it was quite a good tune too
  11. Didn't he ride for a couple of years for Bradford? And wasn't he a Motocross rider?
  12. I hope the bottles are used with Morris Lubricants
  13. Thanks for the link... Shame Tai let himself down (again) with his language, Suzi didn't seem that impressed... he still shows a bit of immaturity at times
  14. For those looking forward to a summer of British Speedway on the box but with no access to Eurosport The half price Eurosport Player half price offer is back on again https://auth.eurosportplayer.com/product
  15. I think that crisis is well over now... in fact the way things look at the moment the NHS will be taking the summer off (along with the teachers). There's only 10% of critical care beds in use and A&E's are like ghost towns. The death rate at the end of April was actually below the 5 year average
  16. Hasn't RobGod already said that Speedway behind door is a non starter? And didn't Speedway dabble with the betting companies in the past? I don't know why it wasn't sustained... maybe Speedway was just too predictable
  17. Weren't there some indoor meetings in the 80's held on concrete/tarmac. I seem to remember Jan Andersen being a specialist and used to apply hair laquer to his back tyre Didn't they used to have concrete start grids way way way way back in the day? And looking at that back tyre, doesn't it look a bit... special? Maybe it's just at a higher pressure
  18. That's something I remember Gollob used to do quite a bit in his earlier days, like he fell asleep and lost concentration when he was out in front, seemed to eradicate that from his game in the later years.... just as an aside, and this is about as random as it gets, this popped up after that Gollob race and looked quite a fun piece
  19. Sorry to "spam" you but during this lock down I've transferred all of my speedway DVD collection to PC and uploaded it to a YouTube channel I created. Some of the quality leaves a bit to be desired as it was all originally from VHS and some of it in Long Play mode. Anyway what I've got that hopefully doesn't break copyright is on my channel Sunshine Speedway... take a look https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbfL52jLjSBNAZUPgTWCDDw/
  20. Was that the one where Sam just missed (or maybe glanced) the wooden post sticking out of the ground with his head? I remember thinking how very different it could have been if the post had been positioned a few inches to the left as his neck was very exposed!
  21. I remember the Berger Grand Prix also... in fact I think it maybe a good idea to run that competition again this year as and when we can get going as I don't think it's going to be feasible to run a league campaign this season with all of the foreign riders needing to quarantine for 2 weeks, so they could maybe look at pooling the British riders and running regional GP series around regional tracks with maybe a semi and finals at the end of the season... just a thought
