Having just watched this back on BSN it does appear that when the cameras are close to the action (riders perspective) the lights are more than adequate... but when the cameras show the action from the other end of the track (fans perspective) then the lights are far from adequate for a modern lighting system.

If, as you say, there's still time to revert I wonder why they made the move so early, unless other clubs were sniffing around, no pun intended.
