Is Speedway still a "working class" spectator sport?

Sir Sidney Snob of Snobbyshire 😜😂 -
I think you'll find its probably business as usual at BSPL towers, keep calm and carry on. Don't worry Coventry are definitely coming back!

Maccies or a £10 bar snack with a coke followed by Vue cinema, any film at any time £4.99 each. We are talking working class don't forget. -
How many will be back on Thursday night though? A winning team no doubt helps, it's not going to be 4,500 though.

... if I want to go and watch a T20 Cricket match at my local ground on FRIDAY the 30th of May at 18:30, look at the ticket options available to me: https://www.tixr.com/groups/leicestershire-ccc/events/leicestershire-foxes-v-derbyshire-falcons-123326 A group ticket of 5 for £18 each... the way Cricket sees it, a group of (working class) mates coming for a night out and a few beers, they've seen it on Tv, it's colourful, musical, the crowd are involved with prizes and stuff being given away there's dancing girls. They've also seen speedway and see a load of pensioners sat in camping chairs filling their home made programmes in watching a tractor go endlessly round a track and its on a school night. The way a Speedway promoter sees it, 5 strangers grouping up outside the turnstile to get some money off... and while this attitude remains crowds will continue to dwindle. ... I remember a few years back at Leicester they wouldn't even let a couple of mentally handicapped people in at a concessionary rate! -

A working class family can get a lot of entertainment these days for £60, a nice meal out, some drinks, followed by cinema, in the warm and not going home covered in dust. It's okay having kids interval runabout races and kids for a quid etc but when they hit 16/17 there's a 2,300% price increase... and they're lost unless they've got a really really good job at that age or parents prepared to pay for them. -
I think people should lighten up a bit with @LagutaRacingFan especially at this difficult time for him 😢 He's only just got over Artem running away from the UK

Saturday night 🤔

Or Brian Simpson? Wasn't he based Ippo way? Riders tend to go off to Poland these days for top quality medical treatment. Maybe a reflection of the state of our health service and the cost of private treatment.

I'm going to miss the circus that is Birmingham Speedway 🎪 🅱️

Doyley came across from gate 3 and made contact with Fricke off 1, it looked like Fricke may have caught a groove going into turn 1 that may have sent him slightly wider than he wanted to go, the contact sent Doyle into the fence and then drew Fricke even wider.

Not helped by Tatum & Louis commentating from the UK. And as good as rider as Hancock may have been, for me, he ain't cut out for punditry. -
You thought wrong then, I watched it again a few times to see what happened, there was contact but there was no running across. The ref put all 4 back as he should have done.

Maybe they were British fans filling their home made programmes in before the race had finished 😂 -

Is PGE Narodowy a dry stadium? Didn't see much beer being partaken compared to what I saw some of the Poles putting away over the years at Cardiff. -

Yeah, it was okay, certainly no classic, better than Landshut. Don't think the watering after heat 4 helped, that kinda wiped out the next 4 entertainment wise. -

You know it's been a bit dull when the commentators start talking about race times! -

Is it a self imposed rule by the sport?

What are the crowd sizes like at your track this season? I've noticed they seem to have been well down at Leicester for the British semi and last night against Lynn. The crowd was abysmal for the British Final in Monday and there didn't look to be that many there tonight at Scunny on BSN. I heard there was a big turn out at Ippo on BHM though.

Question answered... of course they do 😂
