  1. I really don't want to get into an argument... but do you know if BE are ready to sell?
  2. I could be wrong but didn't Neil Machin join somebody as promoter somewhere to kind of guide them in their first years of promotion and offer advice etc. Before standing back? I'm pretty sure he did, can't remember where though, it may even have been at Leicester or Sheffield when the Bates took over. That's what Tolley needed imo.
  3. If it wasn't so sad it was quite comical listening to his interview, the shirts, that he's responsible for, not having the word Speedway written on them! His head completely in the clouds regarding the Alexander stadium! £6,000 rent per meeting, meaning tickets for his 600 crowd would have to start at £100 before you even get to thinking about paying riders, cloud cuckoo land, why even mention it as a possibility, he may as well have gone to Villa Park! A fool and his money are easily parted, he obviously knows how to make and sell badges, but like you say running a Speedway promotion not so much, he needed better people around him I think, and now he's talking about inflicting the same process on another club, it beggars belief!
  4. Surely it's better to come back in a challenge match as opposed to a league match, it's only a competitive test session after all. The 2-3 month recovery period for a dislocated hip that some have mentioned seems a bit long, Google quotes 12-16 weeks for a dislocated shoulder, Kyle Howarth popped his out the other week and was riding again a week or so later.
  5. Rob Lyon said on the British Speedway podcast, that the trouble with his teams make up is that it's difficult to cover for R/R... I would have thought that having a team full of 6 and 7 pointers, it's the ideal team make up to cover for R/R as you've not got 1 or 2 big guns and then nothing after that. The reason they lost against Sheffield was partly due to a poor performance from your number 1 and a freak score from Lewis Kerr.
  6. I think it said on today's British Speedway podcast that Joe Thompson will be taking his place.
  7. Has anybody heard Nigel Tolley on this week's British Speedway podcast? 32 mins in:
  8. Having been a Leicester, Long Eaton and Coventry fan I've heard a lot of BS over the years. As a Wolves fan you're early on your journey to a return and there has already been some false hope. As for the current outbreak of optimism, as I've said before, unless we're not being told something we're in exactly the same place we were a year ago, and until the site is acquired we'll remain in that same position. Slightly related, listening to Nigel Tolley on the British Speedway Podcast, some people just cant help themselves coming out with yet more BS!
  9. Part of me is thinking, if all the riders were available to ride at noon on a Bank Holiday Monday, why was this fixture not originally arranged for noon on a BHM? They've now left themselves 5 days to "promote" this meeting!
  10. If it needs 6, 5 or even 4 man teams, so be it. The current model is obviously not working.
  11. LEICESTER’S next home match in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership against Birmingham has been brought forward to this coming Bank Holiday Monday (May 26, midday start). The Watling JCB Lions were to face the Brummies on Thursday May 29; however, that date would now result in the absences of riders from both teams due to re-arranged fixtures in Poland. With the co-operation of all parties, agreement has therefore been reached for the meeting to take place at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Bank Holiday Monday at midday. The Lions will then travel to Sheffield for their early evening fixture at 6.30pm, whilst the Brummies have a home match against King’s Lynn at 7.30pm. As a consequence of this change, the scheduled fixture for the Lion Cubs at home to Belle Vue on Sunday May 25 has been postponed, with a new date to be announced.
  12. DELETE SUNDAY MAY 25: Leicester v Belle Vue (NDL) INSERT MONDAY MAY 26: Leicester v Birmingham (Prem) 12pm DELETE THURSDAY MAY 29: Leicester v Birmingham (Prem)
  13. That's fair enough... we'd have to go without them
  14. The frustrating thing is it's not rocket science. We'd lose the "top stars" but riders like Tom Brennan, Josh Pickering, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Keynan Rew and all other riders in that bracket would have to make a decision of whether to commit to the UK as the new "top stars" with around 40-50 meetings or ride Poland, and for the non British riders, base themselves in Poland.
  15. Realistically it needs to be one big league only with riders committed to British Speedway, 2H2A, no doubling up, on the best race night for the club.
  16. Some decent stuff on track tonight, result was never in doubt though... the big 3 all won tonight more or less taking them out of sight.
  17. Was it really worth showing that from King's Lynn? It was laughable!
  18. Some of them look like they've got an appointment with the undertakers tomorrow!
  19. Not many I'd have thought, and that's paying adults and 20% of that £25 would be VAT.
  20. If the rumoured £100k per club per season tv money is to be believed that covers a club for 2,000 punters per tv match based on 2 showings per season. Maybe more as there'll be no VAT element.
  21. That's the question that should be asked about Ritchie Worrall I think... didn't he cop a couple of fines?
