"We're trying to make it more diverse and attract a younger audience"... cut to 2 old men on the back of a pickup truck delivering the trophy ๐ ๐๐ -
He is a bit of a homer,I wouldn't judge him on his Worky performances alone

Workington v Scunthorpe BSN 03/05/25 3pm

I do like all these young Aussies riding in our leagues this year, if they can manage to stick around Australia's future looks quite bright. -
It seems that, like in football, the Championship is a far more competitive league than the Premiership.

It's not much better watching it on TV... there's clearly no direction, with the camera often concentrating on a rider for a predetermined amount of time and order. -
... and (in summary) why was that?

The thing is though that neither WSB or MotoGP then go on to have a further 20 qualifying heats,2 semis and a final -
Bomber's getting on for right age for a hip replacement He shut off so much and so quickly going into the first turn at Leicester last night that he almost fell off with the way the bike reacted!

This doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. Back in the day teams weren't fined though I believe, they weren't allowed to take to the track. I seem to remember Milton Keynes falling foul to this.

You mean like a rising tar... I'm not going to finish that off or it'll probably get me another ban!

I'm at the British semi-final qualifier at Leicester, it's 24 degrees, probably one of the best nights weather wise we'll have this season, with some of Britain's brightest young speedway talent on show, battling it out for a place in the British Final... but the crowd is about half what it would be for a league match, WHY? What makes people turn out to watch team racing, often contrived, in favour of what I'd suggest is a more pure form of the sport? There's even 10 riders in the field that have connections to Leicester present or past yet it's been given a major thumbs down by the punters ๐๐ป For those that didn't attend the British semi they missed a night of proper Speedway!

Birmingham v Leicester Premiership Monday April 28th
IainB replied to heathen52's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Congratulations! You are the first person to use the word "substrate" on this forum ๐๐ -
I think there's a little too much being expected from these riders that suffered serious season ending injuries last year. Even Doyley and Emil are finding the going a little tough at the start of this season.
-
That's uncanny, I was only thinking this to myself on the way home from Birmingham the other night. It's no use riders disappearing straight away after a match to their next one if they're continually struggling around their home track. I did see riders coming out after the match a couple of times at Leicester last season.

Listening to Chris Adams on the British Speedway podcast it sounds like Vuolas's days maybe numbered โช๏ธ

I'm not sure how these visa's work though, something fishy happened when Laguta came over here to ride for Lynn meaning that for some reason Plymouth had to fill the visa request out, maybe something like that has gone on here. If clubs are only allowed a certain amount of visa's maybe Brum have blown their allocation on the rest of the team?

Genuinely, a mate of mine said to me last weekend that he fancied coming to Cardiff with me this year as he's seen a bit of it on TV and I'd always said how good it was... I told him he was 25 years too late... needless to say he didn't fancy Manchester ๐งโ๏ธ
