Surely the obvious choice would be "Diddy" David Hamilton in the ageing star position great mate. We may have to rename Beaumont Park to the Yewtree Arena though, right pop picker? Not 'arf!

Bewley & Kurtz were absolutely immense last night, Kurtz in particular with a real captains performance and the day before his dream GP Challenge meeting. Neither had showed anything like that form before around Leicester and against weaker opposition too. For Lions you get the impression that with the celebrations and jubilations after the semi victory against Ippo that the job was done as in as much as getting to the final was enough. I can't imagine how wide your team shirt merchandise will be next season with that extra star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think my 2024 season is over and here is my final tally: Where Visits Cost Belle Vue 7 £270.00 Birmingham 1 £23.00 Cardiff 1 £22.95 Ipswich 2 £46.00 Leicester 14 £300.00 Oxford 3 £66.00 Sheffield 4 £92.00 32 £819.95 Even with all SoN's and Leicester reaching the pay offs this is actually 1 meeting (and £122) down on last season due to the closure of Peterborough (and Wolves) . It doesn't include at least a couple of wasted trips to King's Lynn to sit in the car park in dry conditions to find out the meetings had been cancelled and you can add in £249.98 for the total BSN pass. Meeting count wise I'm well down on the good old days where the number of meetings would probably be in the 50's or 60's, maybe more.

wasn't his brother Grigoryevich Artem Laguta? Or were they the same person? Have they ever been seen together? 😂 -
Don't particularly won't to rake up old ground but they didn't need to do anything, they should have just called it at 31st of August and left the 2 KL meetings outstanding, what they did with their interference was the worst of all the options available!

I believe Les Collins finished 2nd on one in 1982, could be wrong, it was a long time ago

Kerr & Cook are journeymen though and we seems to have a team full of them at the moment... there aren't many riders on the way up

100% 👍🏻

I must say the track was in absolute mint condition tonight so no excuses on that front, so a massive well done to everybody in getting into shape. Those in attendance will have seen by the standing water still around the stadium how wet it has been.

I never want to see Hagon, Cook, Kerr, Kemp, Becker and maybe Fricke in a Lions race suit again.

Congratulations to the Aces, completely outclassed Leicester in every department, except at number 2, over the 2 legs! Deserved champions? We'll never know thanks to Phil Morris. At least @mikebv got to use his flare! 😂

And don't forget they dropped Zack Cook when they wanted to bring Lindgren in! In what world do you ever do that? The history shows that clubs don't really close for 3 or 4 years, especially in city venues, it's more like 20 to 25 years before they make a comeback, if at all, due to the scarcity of land available at the right price in the right area.

I'm surprised they lasted the season tbh. They clearly shouldn't have paid to keep a rider in the team for the whole year who was contributing very little and it was inexplicable that he kept appearing every week. It's difficult to feel any sympathy for the directors.

It is a lot more expensive to attend Speedway these days, so a lot of people really have to think whether it's worth it or not

I know it's not North American but the sport that I think has the most similarities to Speedway, although not immediately obvious, Cricket has resisted the need for pay offs. Their league competition the County Championship is decided in the good old fashioned way, they don't get bogged down with re-staging weather effected matches either... but, who cares, other than those playing, who wins? The rest of the season is made up of more high profile, media friendly competitions, The Hundred, Blast, Internationals etc. The County Championship is almost used as a feeder system and is still there for the Cricket die hard to attend. It's going to need somebody to stump up the money (a TV broadcaster) to radically change the operating model of British Speedway, to have a month long festival of franchise Speedway attracting all of the worlds top stars. This particular horse has probably now bolted though when Sky dropped the Sport, instead of innovating the sport while all other sports were doing the same thing, Speedway just plodded along with the same old league system becoming less and less fit for purpose as each season went on.
