Worrying reports filtering back from Pomgolia that Spiderweb made it to the glorified ranks of Flag Marshal at the Lincolnshire Poacher meeting. Why do the words "Dracula" and "Blood Bank" spring to mind here? -

Don't forget to say "G'day" to me Mum in Newport!! As for these reports of Gargantuan Alcohol-fuelled Love Fests; you obviously don't recall signing up with Flybynyte Enterprises, my little Tax-dodge-come-Personal Management Company. I promised to make you a Global Superstar, remember, and all for only 10% (er, that's your cut btw). Oh. and I've got you a gig at Fly Half for Toulon next weekend, playing inside Sonny Bill. Trust Me Lunchy, this one can't fail!! -

That's more than enough to keep me going forever! The Federales strike again! (Boo Hiss!!) Can't see anyone getting off on personal use for that one! Australian Federal Police said the bust was a Joint operation - well they would say that wouldn't they? I'm going the Sergeant Schulz defence - I know NOTHING!! Funny you should mention that, Spiderweb!! We're talking 26kg of Hydro; 5 kg of Eckies and 700gm of the nicest Crystal Amphetamine I've seen in a long time. (Sob; Sob!! ) You're not the only one lying low, cuz!! Oh well, you won't be the first Aussie to spend time in Changi!! -
From the Gillman Website: Productive Discussions On Australian Solo Championship Series Gillman Media posted Monday August 4, 2008. "A very productive meeting between representatives of Motorcycling Australia (MA) and the Promoters of the three venues staging the 2009 Australian Speedway Solo Championship took place at MA offices in Melbourne on Sunday, 3 August. The finer points of staging the Championship were discussed and major headway was achieved. Firstly, the dates already released were confirmed as: Round 1 at the Newcastle Showground on Saturday, 3 January 2009 Round 2 at the Olympic Park Speedway in Mildura on Wednesday, 7 January 2009 Round 3 (final) at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide on Saturday, 10 January 2009 With the great depth of young riders now racing in the UK, Europe and Australia, MA now has around 60 riders to consider for selection, with a dozen or so competing in the overseas Elite Leagues, 30+ in the lower Leagues and around 20 promising young domestic riders. With so many talented Australian riders available, only Australian riders will compete in this year's Championship, and a Qualification Meeting will be held at the Central Coast Speedway in Gosford on Friday, 2 January 2009, the night prior to the first round at Newcastle Showground, to determine the final line-up of riders to contest the Championship. Around 6-8 riders from a 16 rider format are expected to progress into the Championship rounds. Riders will be contacted by MA to find out if they wish to nominate for this season's event, but it is also recommended that riders contact MA as soon as possible as MA does not have current contact details for some riders. All riders wanting to compete MUST confirm their participation by 1 September 2008 (contact Motorcycling Australia's Speedway Commission Chairman, Ivan Golding on 0417138378 or e-mail ivangold@sa.chariot.net.au) as the Promoters have taken the extraordinary step of supplying a container for the riders to bring their bikes to Australia and return to the UK. The container should leave England no later than mid-October and be back in the UK ready for the start of the 2009 season. MA is also looking at a slight change in the race format, with the 16 rider, 20 heat format used, but instead of the top four going into the final, three will automatically qualify for the final, with the next four highest scorers going into a semi-final from which the winner will also going into the final. MA and the promoters are doing their best to make this year's Championship Series a fantastic success - now it is up to the riders to show their desire to win their National Championship." Here's hoping something's been done about the Viewing arrangements at Gosford; plus of course a deal with the Rain Gods!!

Last I heard he was living just round the corner from Vic White. Maybe an enquiry to the Veterans' site - http://www.vsra-web.co.uk/ - might help?
-
While I'm unsure where he'll be camped ( for some reason he won't let me book hotels for him any more ) I can confirm he'll be at I.O.W. along with the rest of the Aussie Invaders on August 12. Handy for Parkhurst I suppose - do they still bang up Foreign Delinquents there? ?
-

Just A Question Re World Cup....
BigFatDave replied to Jenn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
.......you cannot be serious!!! Check out how many Aussies are riding in PL this year who're under the age of 23, plus there's more to come. Next season two more hot prospects NSW's Sam Masters and QLD's Darcy Ward are looking for rides, plus the Sedgemen Bros will probably be back for another bash. Oh, and if you'd checked out the 80cc Trophy thread you might have read of Arthur Sissis, current Oz Under-16 Champ and a fantastic prospect, but he's only 13. -
