That's a view i was veering towards, but couldn't find a clear reference to confirm if it is the case or not. On the MiniMax racecards i have always had the following under the 'standings' "Above 15 riders are the only ones whose points count in the final 2012 series classification. Top 8 qualify for the 2013 SGP series." This week's GP will be the first to have a rider totalling enough points to enter the top 15 so i was going to add Vaculik's points in the notes section. UPDATE: I notice the Speedway Star whilst keeping the series regular 15 riders separate have placings listed 13th, 15th, 16th for them. Only thing the Star persists in getting so wrong is they list riders with the same points on alphabetical first name order!, instead of using the lowest riding jacket takes precedence which is a clear cut well established rule of the SGP. Extremely unsatisfactory. However fortunately the Wild Card system would fortuitously come to the rescue, probably by accident and not design. There is a similar situation for football's Champions League in that if the winners fail to qualify via their domestic league for the following year's competition they are automatically granted a place in the competition as 'Champions' at the expense of a fellow league club. Guess speedway have via the Wild Card an opportunity to ensure the champion would always take part. Similarly with Wild Card places taking up a quarter of the GP series it also allows for those whose points are within the top eight level to be inserted the next year. Although that's not guaranteed by any means, especially if for instance two of the world's top riders were injured early on or mid-season.

Just over one day away - yep it's an early draw for a change - so available in the EARLY afternoon following the draw on Friday (13:00 BST) are the TWO different versions of the MiniMax Racecard. You can directly download them from the top of the following page and either print on both sides of a single sheet or use in a match programme format over two pages. Nice to see that even in busy Cardiff week they are managing to read their emails. They've corrected the timing and cleared out last year's line-up from the draw page. So 13:00 it is then APPROVE of that -

WOW! I despair lol, does any part of the speedway world have it's house in order as to know what the other hand is doing. Did you, or will you if you speak to him again, ask if he has read the FIM official regulations i quote in a post above? So where does that leave us? the regulations are clear as day, and i do indeed speak of the 2012 regulations, yet the FIM GP secretary contradicts them 100%! http://www.fim-live....eedwayGP_en.pdf My 'understanding' of the section below is that Vaculik can't qualify. It's an unusually clear explanation in the world of rules & regulations. However, who do we go with the FIM GP secretary or the published regulations?. I'm very confused and this time understandably so. I've no way of knowing which is right. If it turns out Graham Brodie is wrong well that's quite a howler indeed considering his position. But is he wrong? 077.8.5 FIM Speedway World Championship Grand Prix Qualifying System The total Grand Prix points scored by each rider having taken part in the FIM Speedway World Championship Grand Prix Series during the season shall be shown on the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification of that year. The current year’s Final Overall Grand Prix Classification, after removing the Wild Card riders, the Qualified Substitute riders, the Track Reserve riders and any substitute riders who have participated in the year’s Championship, as they are not taken into consideration, shall determine the riders’ qualifications for the next year’s Championship as follows

Second that strongly. It will also give you something to do during the pre-meeting 'entertainment' lol. The British GP issue is always a great read plus you will have your template. Oh my goodness no need to go through all that palaver just simply lie on your side to read it lol. -
British Grand Prix 2012
manchesterpaul replied to willstaxi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Eh! why? I only wanted to get the time confirmed (i do think it will be 13:00) because i have the MIniMax racecards to produce and wanted to plan the comings and goings of my day. The reference to our overseas friends was just prempting people asking why does the time of the draw matter. Additionally, a lot of fans in the UK find the later draw time a rush to get their cards printed out. Most of the major sports (think of football's UEFA Champions League etc) do draws around midday in order to get maximum publicity by making the local and national media deadlines for the following day's copy. To stage it at the end of the working day seems a trifle unproductive. Not all newsrooms or sports sections have 24 hour full-time staff. Ok i so not gonna proofread their website but ooops some webmaster is having a bad week lol. Like i mentioned above i'm guessing it will be at 13:00. Just fired off a helpful email and we shall wait and see if they get to read it, let alone act on it lol. Got to admit though they do have an otherwise super website, it's very impressive. -

The official SGP website once again is giving conflicting advice regarding the time of the draw and added an absolute pearler too. On the home page it has an earlier draw time than we've been getting for most of the year, namely, it says 13:00 local time. One clicks upon the 'Live Draw' link and it firmly states 17:15 local time. Before anyone moans about 'does it matter?' yes it does as the later time means lots of fans on mainland Europe don't get to print out racecards at work, educational establishment or a library etc. Also, more importantly i've got to plan my day lol lol. Additionally, first time i've ever come across this but whilst it correctly lists the Wild Card and reserves (including Josh Auty as an updated replacement) the draw is already filled in!......with last years field!. -

1-5 all is not yet over. 100% agreement here too. If a team's rider breaks the tapes that's it, no replacement. IMG promoters hearts in mouths seeing Harris batlling there. -

Strongly seconded his only massive flaw is he can't match the Polish lady on their coverage in the looks and figure stakes. -

Cheers for that i had forgotten about pesky bonus points over to da Ghostwalker. I was enjoying that being explained on tv but sadly my brain burst halfway, i don't think it has the memory capacity required lol. -

It's certainly been known to happen when a hot scoring reserve is waiting in the wings to replace a poorly performing rider! -

Don't forget those figures are obviously changing heat by heat. Apologies if i'm stating the bleeping obvious lol. I so should have set up a spreadsheet lol lol. Incidentally Svemo do make things complicated all the above divisions and lengthy returns can translate to what sports all over the world do and use goal/points difference eg using above Vargarna -70 Västervik -100 Valsarna -84 Absolutely no use of calculators needed. They also are so annoying in referring to riders averages per race and not the international and historical standard of per meeting. It makes it very hard to discern the differences between riders.
