  1. I'll be interested to see the detail on number 8s. Will it consist of a designated set of riders (almost a shadow RS list) or will clubs have a free hand to choose?
  2. Very difficult to see Batchelor having a worse season than last year, and possibly the rider who may have the biggest potential average gain in the Premiership in 2022. A risk, yes - but not a great risk on that average
  3. I just don't get it John. What is your motive? On the Memories of Rye House Facebook page you make an ambiguous but provocative post, which then sets off a negative chain of events. After that causes an argument you delete all your posts so no one can see the trail, and then you make apologies. You then set up an alternative Facebook group which you call Rye House Speedway- the Fabulous Rockets. Yet on this Forum thread you admit that you haven't been since 1963 and you left because you were bored, and that having posted a link to a picture of a Rye House legend you don't know and don't really care who he is! However, that also means that this Forum thread has been diverted away from the positive news that there is actually a chance Rye House could return. I try not to post negative things in relation to your posts, but boy, you do make it difficult to come to any conclusion other than that you are trying to damage the possible Rye House return.
  4. I agree with that. The question is which organisation has the skills to properly conduct the research and properly interpret it - and then come up with a plan to make a difference.
  5. I think it would be a good idea if some kind of survey could be carried out to see how many people that would attract on a regular basis. For me, that would not be an attractive proposition and I doubt I would go. Solo speedway is the attraction for me but sidecars, quads and flat track would be a complete turn off. I'd also be unlikely to go for a full day. What does attract me is the sort of programme the Isle of Wight put on this year - circa 25 races over a 3 hour period, predominately speedway based - and the British Youth Championship with multiple speedway classes. I may of course be in the minority, and I certainly do fall into the age demographic that's viewed as a problem for the sport.
  6. Unbelievable. If the BBC don't mention speedway people complain. The BBC do report it and they still get criticised! You may not watch the BBC. Millions still do
  7. I went to one of the 3TT meetings and the Nora 500CC British championship. For me, they meet the requirements of 'something for the traditionalists'. My expectations were exceeded by the racing on show. The riders certainly took it seriously and I enjoyed it immensely. When that is combined with all the other races put on in various speedway classes (Pee Wee, 125cc, Women's races, uprights etc) - all wrapped up in a fantastic customer experience and an entertaing show - I thought they were fantastic nights out. I know you are supportive of the IOW City Rebel, but not sure if you were able to get over this year with the travel challenges!
  8. Denigrating the IOW again. What have you got against them? You completely miss the point of how they operate and why they are operating that way this year. Remember, they would have raced in the National League this year had not changes been imposed without consultation, and with no guarantee that the same wouldn't happen in the future. I am a neutral supporter- I don't have a team to follow and so no axe to grind. I want to see British speedway flourish. IOW are putting on serious speedway. I'm not sure what you mean by 'fun speedway. However, they wrap that up in first class customer service and extra fan engagement. Every other club could do the same. There must be tens of thousands of people like me who used to go, but have lost their track. IOW through its social media content attracted me to go, impress me when I attend, and keep me posted. I feel a part of their club. Kings Lynn , or any other club, could do the same, but they don't.
  9. As this is a Belle Vue thread I don't want to take it over with other comments, but I cannot agree with you that the racing at Wimbledon was boring. Like everywhere else it had good and bad meetings. I do agree with your other points. British speedway does need to take a hard look at its self in readiness for next season
  10. The fact is all 3 teams closed as the owners wanted to develop the sites, nothing to do with them being slick tracks. At the point Wimbledon closed the promoters wanted to take them up a division - nothing to do with crowd size and quality of racing and all to do with the owners wanting to knock down the stadium and build housing
  11. Almost certain that, based on current experience, BSPL would put barriers in the way of such events, limiting who could ride.
  12. Thanks for parking advice. I'll aim to arrive in plenty of time to park in the car park and avoid the road parking. Much appreciated
  13. I'm intending to go to the meeting at Wolverhampton in the evening. It's some years since I last went to Monmore. Can anyone advise on how easy it is to park please? Thanks
  14. You are measuring the experience on the size of the crowd- but where are you wanting to compare it to? I would say the IOW are getting crowds which would be comparable with or better than other NDL teams (and that is the level they have chosen to operate at), but perhaps more importantly they are at a level which makes it sustainable. However, my main point is that any promoter at any level could learn from them and increase their own attendance.
  15. Trees, you seem to have a downer on the IOW offer and I don't know why that is. I can understand that you don't like the racing on offer - but you must take into account the restrictions that the Warriors have had to operate within this year. However, any one who goes to watch an event with an open mind could not fail to be impressed by the the whole show - from the minute you are welcomed by the parking team right up to the moment you leave ( and if you are travelling back to the mainland on the late ferry the customer care continues right up to the point you have to go back to your car ). Any promoter would come away from a visit with at least a couple of ideas that would improve their own show, and therefore their customers night out.
  16. I couldn't agree with you more. I am a great advocate and supporter of what IOW has achieved this year
  17. I'd certainly agree that British speedway as a whole needs to have a serious rethink, and only pay out what it can afford
  18. Given that it appears that not enough people were interested in the higher level product then that's a dilemma
  19. You will know better than me then - so NDL unsustainable on two levels
  20. I came to quite a few of the meetings so yes. I think the NDL at that point was a great product. I think this year, with the imposed new model, there are simply insufficient numbers of teams to create enough meetings for a stand alone team. That is why I think it is unsustainable, rather than the quality of the racing and the number of supporters who would attend.
  21. Although of course BSPL has changed the NDL model dramatically by imposing a new operating model this year - so really not sustainable for a stand alone team
  22. Well, he will know where to find his first clown

  24. I only wish I could. My 'local' clubs are all circa 60 miles or more away sadly
