  1. Although, if you don't pay rent because you own the stadium you havd got costs such as business rates and stadium upkeep to pay, amongst many others, so that would put a significant dent in that £50k
  2. https://www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/ You may already be aware of this, but a good starting point if not Edit: I can see now that others have also suggested that
  3. How do you know it is financially viable for Glasgow to step up? Or do you just think the owners have sufficient financial assets to sustain a loss?
  4. British Speedway is full of troubling things!
  5. Firstly, you don't know that ( although I accept you might well have more info than just we common fans) unless you were party to all the arrangements. I cant imagine that promoters such as the Faccennas and owners such as messrs Rice and Southwell at Belle Vue, all serious business people, have had the wool pulled over their eyes. Maybe they think, knowing the deal that Speedway Futures has agreed, that it represents s good deal for them all.
  6. I'm sure he doesn't. Most people don't do something for nothing. British Speedway has already had national media exposure because of his involvement. Any one of us could go out to try to get media exposure and investment for British Speedway, and, if we did, we might expect either payment, a percentage or a finders fee. That doesn't sound unreasonable in principle. Of course, none of us know what that figure might be. It's up to all the BSPA members to make sure it is at an acceptable level.
  7. “He will be joining the Speedway Futures Management team, which is great news. He will be focussing on leveraging his commercial and media contacts for the benefit of British Speedway and also actively raising the sport’s profile through all his connections.' No doubt Harry will be due a % for any contacts he introduces and who invest. I doubt he will have any operational or hands on role
  8. Usual position. Without it British Speedway might get 100% of nothing!
  9. Based on the Press Release SPEEDWAY FUTURES LINK WITH HARRY – British Speedway Official Website 'Speedway Futures Ltd was set up in 2024 and became the commercial and media rights holders of British Speedway, with the specific objective of attracting long term commercial investment to develop the sport in the UK. Morris said: “There’s been extensive work over the last year or so, firstly in terms of bringing together a team of people with experienced commercial backgrounds, and expertise in media, which can help us develop the sport. “Obviously the aim is to bring additional investment into British Speedway, and we have been talking to major multinational sports investment groups about potential future involvement in speedway in the UK. “Speedway Futures are the new media and commercial rights holders for British Speedway, and we do have various potential deals in discussion which we believe can make a real difference to the sport'
  10. Have a look here https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Rqx81Rdbk/
  11. I understand and accept what you say. However, the part you don't seem to want to address is that Poole could do all of that, but select different riders to suit a more race orientated track- and prepare it accordingly. I suspect Poole would be just as successful, because that is a mindset. However, Poole might just attract more fans and make a bigger profit.
  12. I can't see Mildenhall stepping up. They have already said that they are happy with NORA (things can change obviously) and their fence solution does not match SCB requirements - hence why they chose the NORA route for this season
  13. I don't follow the logic to this argument. Why do you think preparing the track so it is more raceable would make Poole less likely to win? Surely Poole would select riders in team building who are likely to respond to that, and with Poole's ability to build teams with riders who improve and that winning mentality, why wouldn't Poole continue to be just as successful? I can understand the logic for a one off meeting, but not as an ongoing ethos.
  14. I'm a neutral who only comes to Poole 2 or 3 times a season when I am in the area. Obviously you go more often than me and are happy with what you see ( as are many others) but in my recent experience there is very little entertaining racing at Poole ( again, I accept that for Poole supporters winning creates an atmosphere, and more atmosphere makes sport seem more entertaining).
  15. True, but Poole could do the same with a track that is prepared to provide more entertaining racing. Poole as a club builds teams with a winning mindset. They could still do the same
  16. It always amazes me that British Speedway makes no attempt, seemingly, to try to attract or appeal to a younger and / or more affluent fan base. Baffling
  17. I tend to go to Poole once or twice a season, as a neutral, having had a day at Studland Bay first. As a neutral I am not a fan of how Poole set up the track now and I don't really enjoy the racing. However, the Poole promotion give the fans a successful team nearly every year, the crowds are good and they seem happy with the racing. And by all accounts it is profitable. In many sports the same argument applies about entertainment. I suspect most supporters in most sports want their team to win first and foremost, and if it is entertaining that's a bonus. Speedway is a bit different because there are so many of us who have lost our own teams, watch as neutrals and want entertaining races with loads of passing. I'm looking forward to the Glasgow leg because I think the racing will be much better and entertaining, but I understand Poole's approach.
  18. The Officer Report recommending refusal of both applications is now on the Planning Portal http://plandocs.peterborough.gov.uk/PublicDocuments/01380971.pdf

  20. And that just proves the point that there is no point in responding to you
  21. I think most people have always understood it to be as per the FIM regs, and I suspect refs over here use that as their interpretation. I suspect the ref on Monday wasn't interested because it wasn't conclusive Perhaps the UK rule is written differently to accommodate situations such as Belle Vue having a raised kerb, so you can’t fully cross the white line without crossing the inner edge of the track.
