Im saying there were a few events that lead us to this position

I think I gave my opinion Steve!

Not a Coventry fan & not wanting to wind you guys up, but this has to lay at the feet of Horton and the old BSPA regime. They ****ed Sahduh over back in the day & its never really been the same since. When he first bought the club I assumed like most the writing was on the wall. However he came in, spruced up the stadium, put together quality, successful teams & everything was going well. Like him or not he invested a lot into the bees. The BSPA knew this and more importantly both the bees as a team and Brandon as a Stadium where jewels in the British Speedway crown, however rather than work with him, did the opposite. Since he's gone the writing really has been on the wall. How they thought Mich Horton being in charge (he should never have been allowed back near a Speedway team after previous happenings) was a good thing I'll never know. I sincerely hope the Bees are saved and back in 2018.

Rye House V Wolverhampton Sat 1st April
RPNY replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Any pics of work done on the stadium yet? -
As a total outsider, I think thats a cracking side the Lions have put together. Fingers crossed they have a great season. Best of luck!
-
Sid, Im sorry but nothing is 10 quid anymore, too many costs involved. Non league football prob more than that..
-
Mich Horton has a continued record of unreliability. The only big surprise here is how he was ever allowed to promote a Speedway team again.
-
Any idea when the first bit of team news will come out?
-
Any news on the team?(on the face of it) was such a dream season for the Aces. Unreal world cup fina, reaching play off final. Crying shame it all went so pear shaped.
-
Yup, a real shame.

The day Sandhu bought Coventry I thought they were done I didn't think for one moment a Malay business man would have any interest in Running a Speedway team. However the first few years he was there he improved the stadium a lot (as great as the Ochiltree family were they left the stadium to rot) provided great teams, 3 league titles I believe and it wasnt till his fall out with the BSPA there were any problems. Find it hard to believe he is at fault here. He's probably just had enough of dealing with idiots.

Shads is right, no point getting too excited just yet... Seeing as no matter whats going on throughout the season, teams (especially Poole) will strengthen going into the playoffs... Don't blame them for doing it either, rules are there, up to the Promoters to work it to their advantage.

Well it's hard not to be a happy Rye fan right now!

Cookie could be a world beater it's frustrating that he isn't. I'm a big fan of his but he's also frustrating to watch when he competes at the top level. Truth be told he should have won the BF on his home track and he should have scored better in the World Cup also. That being said, I just hope he really kicks on next season. Although I fear it could be the same old story for the Brits. Pre season interviews saying they are ready for it to be THE season, then suffer with engine, tyre, exhaust, tuner, weather or whatever else it is issues and it all fall flat again... No disgrace being a domestic star though I guess.

Very sad, I'm hearing it with be NL only at Purfleet next year. Better than nothing tho I suppose.
-
(My fellow) New Yorker, you're right & that should be the most important part of this thread. Melbourne was a superb GP, concluding a superb series. No weak links in the 15 regulars next year, BRING IN ON!
-
Fair enough I should have said 'it's my belief you're mistaken' as Joe really doesn't have that much sway.
-
I don't know there was no conversation between them. It is my belief. However neither does anyone know they did somehow conspire to gift holder points. With regards to the top 8, I agree.
-
Thank you for the condescending response. I just happen to think that things aren't as black and white as others do. But seeing as you know all the facts for certain I won't make any further comment

I'm amazed how some on here are so one sided in their views. Phil has amdmitted he thinks Greg's argument for Holder passing him was prettty thin & also that he feels Greg was completely in the wrong withdrawing from the rest of the meeting. However he makes a valid point in there were many better ways he could have allowed Holder through where he coulda have saved face. I also full respect his comment of having known Greg since he was 19 & just cannot see him cheat in that way. What I would say is, that he always keeps his nearest young rivals 'onside' so to speak. So I for one cannot seem him him screwing over Zmarzlik like that. It just isn't how Hancock plays the game. Another side note, although I agree Monster Joe should not be jumping around in the pits like a cheerleader, I think some here massively overestimate how much power/sway he has. It really isn't that great. And for those of you who think he and Greg had a pre race conversation about making the start then gifting Holder a point are very much mistaken. Also remember Woffinden had run a last in his 2nd ride so gifting Holder points meant his silver medal was in jeopardy. He's another Monster rider. Yes the last 4 years have produced 'Monster' world champions but we're any undeserved? As previously said maybe Holder was lucky in 2012 with the semi final but I stand by it was more Torun & Nicki's reputation that got him back in the re run. I'm not saying I fully disagree with this who are annoyed at Hancock on here. But there are some vilifying people who are just to at least try and look at both sides of the story. And as much as I try and respect everyone's point of view on here, there are many current & previous riders who with nothing to gain, think gregs exclusion was pretty terrible. They know him as a rider & as a person & really their judgement sits a bit stronger the ours who just THINK we know..
-
I would fully agree there are others that are tough. Doyle last year and Lindgren this year for sure. However there was about a 5 year spell where Nicki regularly stepped over the line. Unfortunately then that led to EVERYTHING he did being treated harshly.
-
Correct - superb example wish I'd used it. Fair enough if you don't like Greg, I'm not his biggest fan either. But to say Nicki was not deliberately dirty is preposterous, Anyway Greg was in the wrong, but it was a brilliant GP without him & roll on next year where I have him finishing top 8 at best. I mean some one was going to try and clump him with the amount of people he was upsetting. (like the Boyce/Gollob eg above) Not justifying it just saying it was obvious it was going to happen. The only surprise was the person who eventually did it...
-
Well yes he'd upset a lot of people for over a decade!
