  1. Wont disagree with you boss, but he was involved in the set up and had gripes...
  2. I think you are missing the point. BSPA treat their riders like sht, even Bomber was fuming this year that he was made to ride in a qualifier which left him with no travel time for the GP. If they continue to do this no top rider will ride in Britain or want to compete in the SWC. Lamberts already had a lot of run ins with them and he's 18!
  3. Shame we didn't get a full explanation from Tai but I think it doesn't take a genius to work out where the problem lies. Jim Lynch, Rob Lyon, Scotty Nicholls, Lee Rico (gob bless you bud) & now all Woffy have all been vocal with their criticism of the BSPA & there are many many others who do too. From the outside looking in doesn't seem to hard to see where the problem is..
  4. One example, he wins a world championship, top scores for Britain in the SWC and plucks a girl out crowd to give her his Silver medal and therefore gets a full page spread in The Sun newspaper, which is read by 10s of millions of people. That whether you like it or not is an example of being a huge asset. Free advertisement of our sport to a huge amount of people. Riding in the British league, but coming middle of the field (at best) in any Speedway meetings of note, doing an interview on how you couldnt get the set up right and you need more big meeting experience does not get you in the national press. And unfortunately at present that is all our other 'top' GB riders do.. That is just one example of how he is good for Speedway in Britain.
  5. I think this argument crops up among a lot of sports, I think in general people like to look through rose tinted glasses, think that it was always better in days gone by. I for one think the standard is as good now as it's ever been. I feel like although Greg has a healthy lead at the moment, theres still 4 riders who can realistically be WC this year. In the mid to late 80s it was only ever going to be Hans or Eric and that was in the one off format. The 90s had a handful of contenders fighting it out year on year, - but admittedly it did produce many different world champions. In the Early 2000's it was essentially only TRik/Crump/Gollob who were fighting it out. So I dont really go with it was much harder back then. What I'm trying to say there's always been the top few who were just a little bit better than the rest. Greg is 46 yes but he's so far of the game mentally and mechanically that it counter balances his age. I wouldnt say an 'old' rider leading the SGP s an illustration of a drop in standard.
  6. When has he ever thrown his toys out the pram? And I'm not being all defensive I just dont member his ever throwing a tempter tantrum before. Seems like a pretty chilled out fella.
  7. You are either trying to annoy people or are just plain stupid. Possibly both.
  8. It really is one hellava conveyor belt of riders Poland have. However never rule the Scandi's out. Plus the Russians have some good riders coming through. Seems the Brits that are struggling. We have some good riders but unfortunately seem to fall short when it comes to the world stage. In reality Woffy and Lambert are likely to be at that level for the foreseeable future. And they were Aussie & German trained...
  9. What a meeting that was. Racing was superb.
  10. Nice input, very interesting thank you for that.
  11. I have to say from what I've read and seen she seems like an absolute god send. Very few girls (particularly so young) Would have acted the way she has.
  12. I think they are good at what they do. I guess some fans don't like their over excited way of commentating however as I said on another thread, that is very much the Sky Sport way across pretty much all the sports they cover. I guess it's also unique to Speedway in that they are the commentators no matter what channel we watch it on so there isnt the variation that you get with other sports. Anyway all in all I think they do a good job.
  13. After very much enjoying riding in Manchester last week, I'd hope that he would be more keen to ride in the BF next year. That and some better planning from the BSPA, it SHOULD be easy to sort out. But when has it ever been easy in this sport.
  14. Between Cardiff, the 4s weekend and the SWC my faith in this sport really has been restored.
  15. That is very much the Sky Sports way of commentating across the board on most sports & for high adrenaline sports it's the complete norm. Murray Walker been doing it for years for example. They do a decent job, not everyones cuppa but they are good.I would however like to see them switch it up from time to time, get Dave Norris or Stoney or Simon Stead in once in a while.
  16. Crump/Gollob was definitely the first time I saw the Air Fence in full effect. A season earlier and JC could have been a gonner. One that sticks in my memory is Shane Parker Todd Whiltshire being run over by crazy Roman Matousek at the 1991 4TT!
  17. The oddest part of Greg not turning up for the Race off was the big interview he did a couple of days before. And being a Monster Sponsored rider I'm surprised they didn't lean on him to be there. I sincerely hope the SWC doesn't become like the 'lesser' competitions in football where the big name players take an opportunity to rest.
  18. Really, really bad form from Hancock. Let a lot of fans down who specifically went to see him. Also, if he'd been in the mix, taking points off other teams, getting in opponents way in the first turn etc it would have made the meeting a lot more interesting. Cheated the fans big time and the way he tried to make out like he was doing it for the greater good is a little bit pathetic.
  19. Superb meeting, great stadium, from Soup to nuts the whole thing was fantastic. Hopefully all the Woffinden haters can now hold their hands up and say they were wrong. His performance Saturday night was out of this world. Also was great to him geeing up the boys all night, interacting with the crowd, couldnt fault the bloke at any point really. The Poles were the best team on the night, however I feel Rosco got the nominated heats all wrong. Cookie IMO should have gone out in Heat 17. He'd just won a race from an inside gate, confidence was high and we were just 2 points behind the Poles. Not saying we would have won the meeting but I feel that would have given us a better chance. Anyway 2nd still a great result and I very much hope Doyle (who should have been excluded, hit PP and then nearly put Cookie in the grandstand) is eating a big slice of humble Pie.
  20. Well going by previous years, if Woofy gets 21 the rest only have to get 12-15 between them and we're world champions
