  1. Despite the opinions of the usual knowalls in this forum, this isn't too bad a team. Bad luck with injuries etc. aside, we may have a good season ... here's hoping!
  2. Must have been in the first two years af the NL era, 2015 - 16. They also did well in the following couple of years but it all fell apart when the Masons took too long to decide to go Championship, and missed out on the best riders. Then Covid, sales etc.
  3. 'Slain' ... I always enjoyed a good massacre, just once in a while!
  4. They buy two for each rider. When I helped buy a (cheap) race suit some years ago, it cost £500. A fully professional suit costs more than that now, I suspect.
  5. Well, if they pay for them? (You're talking about £15,000).
  6. Modern brushless electric motors are controlled by a computerised control unit; there is plenty of speed control.
  7. The problem is that the riders have to cooperate with the rules, or have to be forced to cooperate.A few years ago, I saw the start marshal try to make a rider (who was desperate to make the start, his team were losing badly) come up to the tapes; the rider eventually took a swing at the marshal. Then again, many years ago they tried to put a thick rope behind the back wheel of the bike to stop rolling back. The riders fought and struggled to get back over the rope to try to jump the start or at least do more gardening. What is really needed is, simply, that referees clamp down on any tricks and disqualify any rider who won't behave.
  8. Er ... what is not nice about 'Why is that'? The real reason is I suspect that he had no answer to give.
  9. Notice that there has been no reply to this or Deano's question from SSL84?
  10. Last year, Birmingham rode against a Coventry Select and a Cradley Select; I presume that there were no problems as they are going to do the same this season also.
  11. Are you also going to invite some of the old 'nomadic' development teams: Long Eaton and Milton Keynes come to mind?
  12. Well, when the late Loomer Road speedway was opened, they had to be called 'Chesterton' for a while because the ex-owners of the defunct Sun Street promotion wouldn't let them use the name 'Stoke'.
  13. Having said that, the Silly Voice Syndrome appears to be creeping into British TV as well
  14. It is in most American programmes!
  15. It could be that it was I who started this hare ... I saw in the Speedway Star that Gino wanted to come over here and had a low average, and so suggested it on this forum. This speculation/wild guess seems to have taken on a life of its own! If it was really Manzares, he would have been signed by now?
  16. That was ludicrous ... as with the dozen or so useless 'security' guards which the promotion had to pay for!
  17. This is the fault of the stadium, not the speedway promotion ... I once bought some chips there, and having tasted them I swore that I would never buy food from them again. Having said that, the food smelt good last year (one of my grandstand companions has his dinner there!), but I haven't tasted any.
  18. Will it be possible to buy individual meetings? I just wanted to watch the away matches of my team.
  19. Noone ever said that: I was just commenting on a person who has only been on this forum for two months repeating his hatred again and again and again ...
  20. Does it make you feel big, pouring out this rubbish? No more than we expect from Wolverhampton, though.
