That was for Berwick ...

The black parts are probably made from magnesium, instead of aluminium, to save weight. we had an engine which had not only the cam cover and timing cover in magnesium, but also the main timing case. Whe we bought it, we did not appreciate that the engine was actually an Ashtech job!

It might be worth pointing out that the same thing - meetings held up by lack of medical support - seems to have happened at Scunthorpe and Newcastle recently.

leicester lions already lost it ?

At a practice session in the early days, Hemsley told me that he wanted a 'fast' speedway; this is why he made it with long straights. Of course, he really should have found out what a fast speedway is actually like! -

Can you still just turn up and pay at the turnstiles, or do you have to pre-book? -
We've already got 5 million Indians ... but the news refered to Australia, Canada and New Zealand, for work visas.
-
As for riders, wasn't there talk last year of removing visa rules for Commonwealth citizens? If they did that, there would be a source of, at least, more Australian riders.

What is the site address for it? The old site for which I have a favourite on my computer does not work any more.
-
Still not working on an ordinary computer!

Alternatively, it's Nanny Ogg's tomcat, described as looking like a fist with fur ... from 'Discworld'.

The naughty names is just a myth!

Probably what the hoo-har was about trying to sort out dates?

Who is he? Never heard of him.

They come on this forum and whinge!

The track has been relaid.

I was there: I included the photograph to show that I helped one of the riders for a couple of years doing MDL, and I have described what I then saw. This argument started when I included a quotation from the Scunthorpe Stags Facebook site, saying that Godfrey 'did not like' the MDL. After all, Scunthorpe is not a 'club which does not exist'!
-
You appear to have misunderstood my point. I couldn't care less about Godfrey; you don't need to get upset about me dissing the great man. I was complaining about the destruction of a very valuable means for riders to get their first step on the speedway rung. I drove a rider round many tracks in order for him to ride in his progression; the MDL was the next step before the National League, though this didn't happen. As I said, the MDL teams were run despite the promoters.
-
Because I don't know him, and don't want to. I went to Scunthorpe often enough for MDL matches, and, like all other promoters, Godfrey was conspicuous by his absence; the junior team (like all others) was run by an enthusiast, for love of the sport.
-
So why doesn't he like the MDL? No-one has answered that.
-
Why not? I suppose that the answer is that MDL riders rode for free, amateurs have to pay £40 ...
-
Maybe, but it just shows the mighty mental capacity of this person.
-
And it was not just 'nomadic' teams which were abolished. I have just found this: The Scunthorpe promotion have dealt the Stags a major blow by deciding against any further action for the team, stating they think the Midland Development League is "a waste of time." And this is from the person who is supposed to be running British speedway!
