Reserves in Poland must be u-21 riders, they stay there for the season. There is no minimum ride rule in Poland, in fact it's quite common for riders to not even get a race. I must agree, watcing this stuff just shows how poor British Speedway really is. Although having said that, the ELiga teams look less evenly balanced than normal this year, with Tarnow particularly gash! Riders like Bjarne Pedersen, Andreas Jonsson and Chris Harris in the 2nd division shows how Promotion and Relegation can work if the infrastructure is in place.

Jack was an Exeter rider in 1962, but guested for Ippo in two early Challenge matches whilst they awaited Ray Cresp to arrive from South Africa. The second of which was the fateful night against Southampton. The accident occured in heat 5 - the line up (listed in the SS) was Unstead and Gooddy for Ippo and Bjorn Knutson and Peter Vandenberg for Southampton. Reg Luckhurst replaced Peter Vandenberg in the rerun. Amazingly the meeting was concluded and the crowd not informed, despite Unstead being killed almost instantaneously.

The Speedway Star of the time reports it was Gooddy's back wheel that he clipped. A subsequent report says he struck the lamp standard with his collarbone, which in turn caused the damage to the heart. Sounds a shocking crash.

Jiri rode for King's Lynn in 1982, averaged a mighty 1.58 from 17 matches. He was a World u-21 finalist in 1981, he scored 13 points to finish 3rd.

Bobbath, It certainly was my intention to web this lot, as well as Spreadsheets I have with the result and individual scores from every League match. Problem is I made a start but haven't had time to do any more. I'm more than willing to let someone take it on if they have the inclination.
