  1. Hell rode in one more match, scoring 3 at MK Broadbelt scored 4 at M'boro and then was injured at home to Berwick.
  2. Robins 87-1 is Stephen Rose 87-2 is Matthew Cross
  3. Henk Bangma's Swindon career only lasted 3/4 of a race at P'boro before he crashed and badly smashed his leg. He did appear for Exeter previously though.
  4. Dybeck turned up at Blunsdon but was told to poke it when he demanded more cash. Penny did actually make 1 League appearance for Stoke (scored 0), they did sign a rider called Fredrik Pettersson who never actually rode a meeting after getting the push after Press and Practice day. Also Sheffield famously used R/R for pretty much the whole season after 'signing' Sergei Kuzin.
  5. Stein Roar Pedersen - broke down en route and had only 1 ride. Didn't ride again.

  11. Speedway Star says Olsen fell in heat 3 whilst well in the lead. It also says the injury was a dislocated shoulder and ligament damage, not a broken collarbone.
  12. He rode for Hackney in 1967 too before retiring.
  13. He'll be 81 if he's still about.
  14. The matches involving the lesser nations would be absolute procession. There's no way Germany, Russia or The Czechs could muster a team of 7 to give the others a match. Plus it would be significantly more expensive.
