  1. All this and sponsors flock to have their name on a car in two inch letters. Speedway had millions and similar air time yet came out bankrupt, in the real world (outside of this forum) nobody else agrees.
  2. The weather looks perfect here today, 35km from Eskilstuna, I hope it's a good meeting tonight. I'm unable to attend due to other commitments, hopefully I will use the tickets in the start of the new season 2019.
  3. I think I will visit here more next season, the burgers are good and I'm not happy with Woffinden at Kumla where I did go.
  4. I'm hoping for a good crowd I will take a Swedish newbie to see this tonight. It doesn't look like perfect weather from the forecast though.
  5. Don't forget the idea this season as a rider, is to stay below an 8 point average. Otherwise you could be unemployable in 2019. The restrictions on average limits were not so much of a problem in the 70s. Which meant the top riders were free to score what they wanted, not what they are told to score, like now.
  6. Ashby was in the top ten averages 1972/73/74 and 76 irrelevant of format the top ten would stay the same, even if the totals reduced. I have been to race meetings, some riders create a buzz of anticipation, Woffinden doesn't, Ashby always did.
  7. It is impossible to compare different eras, I followed Martin Ashby and Swindon up and down the country in 70s. I wouldn't cross the road to watch Woffinden, judging by the crowd sizes neither will anyone else. That's the only statistics that matter, watchable or blah.
  8. Lakeside at 252 meters is below the 260 meters that the FIM states as minimum track length required for speedway. Yet it was approved as an FIM track to run an U21 qualification round. The FIM/BSI will run anywhere if the money is right. The Argentinian track for the U21 W/C proved that, if an American promoter showed BSI the money it would run at Costa Messa
  9. With no voting rights for three years. In which time the other promoters have taken your assets, reduced your crowd, because the weak teams you put out continually get beaten and you run on a day that suits them, not your customers. If that hasn't destroyed your enthusiasm they will change the rules to push you out.
  10. In the 70's, the pop group Mud were photographed by SS at Wimbledon, the picture Was a colour back page from memory. Was that just a promotional shoot or were they fans ?
  11. Will Jacobsen and Woryna be eligible to ride in the UK next season ? After Brexit on 29th of March won't European riders require the same qualifications as the Australians, top 4 in a championship ?
  12. I agree, a little honesty would be nice to see. Some riders are using them, they do work, at different levels of racing as well.
  13. Rider assets will depend on the strength of the league. If the level drops to championship league status most, if not all are unusable
  14. THE DEAN MACHINE posted in the Polish league thread that Peter Ljung used one on Saturday, he scored 11 points. So there is still a little life left in the saga.
  15. Had the same thoughts, leased stadium, assets with no value if the league standard gets lower. All that's for sale are two old tractors and a BSPA licence, even that may be worthless if clubs like Rye House have theirs for sale.
  16. The referee made a decision, which in his interpretation of the rules, at the time of the incident, was correct. What is there to condemn ?
  17. Not such a noticeable decline in their league either. Running as a proper professional sport has it's benefits in other countries.
  18. Even after all the rumours from previous years, he was still willing to sign there, rather than a British club. That tells you more about the state of British speedway than any forum thread.
  19. A kick in the teeth for an extreme sport, second place is good enough to win. Looks like Poland never fell for B#ll S#It Included's propaganda campaign
  20. It needs to be, only B#ll S#it Included could take something that worked and turn it into this garbage
  21. It will be interesting to see the lineups of the two teams at the restaging of this meeting.
  22. Surely that is Middlo's job as manager, to make the riders work as a team. He seems inept at doing that, that is before the biggest ego of them all, Holder, turns up to spill more fuel on the flames
