  1. Oxford would be better off following the isle of Wight style of meetings, it has to be better than the BSPL
  2. Bewley not really doing himself any favours tonight at Sheffield, three last places.
  3. Not been much in the way of quality to beat. A comparison of Lambert and Bewley on Polish form would be better. Plus home track knowledge will count for nothing, once fireman Phil has had his hands on the track
  4. If you want TV to help the sport it should be a 15 minute highlight programme. The TV could still show the "best race of the meeting" from four different angles, but the potential punters wouldn't be aware it takes over two hours to run.
  5. Thousands of ex supporters won't pay £20 to watch anymore why should Sky
  6. Some good races on a well prepared track, the future seems to be bright for Germany and Latvia. The UK need to get their youngsters abroad, the promotors refusing to release riders from pointless league meetings is stifling the talent.
  7. So the promoters decided the qualifying meetings don't matter, more fool anybody who paid to watch the worthless league.
  8. Strange that Russia, the only country that has won the speedway of nations is missing on that list.
  9. It would be a perfect opportunity for a new promotion at Oxford. Lower costs, control over the way to run meetings and a chance to gauge crowd attendance. It would make more sense than being tied into the BSPL without voting rights.
  10. Perfectly feasible, six riders riding as pairs, for home and away teams. They only need to change helmet colours. The promoters could save eight riders travelling costs
  11. The quote from the official BSPL statement on the under 21 WC qualification was. "It goes without saying that with their British commitments it absolutely was not possible for Tom and Drew to be able to do this. " How you wish to interpret that statement is up to you. I read it as due to the missed league meetings the promoters would not release the riders.
  12. But that must be a direct result from the 70's and 80's, when British promotors started running Sunday meetings, to stop "their" riders going abroad for bigger money. The promoters attitude to meetings overseas will never change and leave the GB an isolated backwater. GB speedway should be thankful for the riders who will participate to keep the showing the flag
  13. This is the problem with British speedway, to represent GB Adam Ellis would have lost money on the 10th of July. It was good to see GB represented, thank you, to the three riders Earlier this season two riders were refused permission to ride in an under 21 qualifying round, because of GB commitments ( promotors worried about league points ) While the this attitude persists the status of GB speedway Internationally will never improve.
  14. Good to see the threat of a ban has been lifted, Nicki is in the line up tonight in Poland
  15. Reading the press statement it is the BSPL that has stopped them attending, due to British commitments.
  16. Perhaps they are finding ways to stop the IOW from running
  17. I thought the Swedish fixtures always started in May. But they only have 8 home meetings
  18. His place will be taken by Ove Ledström, who had travelled with him as his mechanic.
  19. Nice to see that GB have been allocated a spot in the Örnsköldsvik qualifying round
  20. Doyle's quoted statement in the local paper, "if British speedway starts in spring he will ride " suggests if Sweden starts first he will ride there instead
