  1. As it says in the report the clock is ticking, and the Edinburgh promotion cant wait for ever,so you wonder if they are already looking along the lines of finding a possible,I said only possible, replacement. My vote would go to Claus Vissing. ;)
  2. Why should an interval be mandatory, surely its better leaving that to the discretion of the on night referee.Theres plenty natural breaks for track grading etc,why we would need another break in racing is beyond me.
  3. Ashworth being top of our averages will have to start at No1,Edberg & Barrett being our bottom two will start at 6 & 7.Bellego rode at two last year for a time Id expect he will start there this season,Smith will be at five IMO,leaving Aspedren & Wethers at three and four.
  4. Bellego & Barrett based themselves in a house in Tweedmouth last year,it may well be that house has now been rented out to someone else.I hope they find their accomodation and workshops in Berwick as its nice to see our overseas riders committing to Berwick by actually living over here instead of flying in and out all the time. I wonder if the previous few posts were alcohol fueled.
  5. Wonder if those who emailed Sky to vent their ire will contact Eurosport with all their glad tidings. Obviously its great news that Speedway GP will be shown live in this country and having a highlights programme must be a bonus, even if its a small one.
  6. Now that Mr Pope has been elected perhaps we can now get on with the important news of where the Gp coverage will appear.
  7. Time gentleman please,it was mentioned that no announcement would be made untill the ink was dry on the respective contracts.Good grief they must have the slowest drying ink in history.
  8. Must admit Im not that fussed how they go about presenting the riders parade, nor the inbetween race comments.Ive always stated that I wasnt Dick Barries biggest fan,nor they way he went about his presentation, but he had his fans and if last saturday was his last then he will be missed by some. If by way of a modern approach to presentation they are going to play newer music, and have a more youthful approach, then thats fine by me,the only way to find out if something new works is by giving it a go,time will tell. Much more important IMO is track prep, thorny subject to some I know, but surely its good quality racing will keep people coming back.
  9. Not much of a fan of Dick Barrie but theres no denying his knowledge of speedway, and he is good at what he does.Thing is maybe what he does has had its day and its time for a new, fresher, modern approah to speedway meeting presentation.Only time will tell.
  10. The British broadcasting channel for the Speedway Grand Prix stages in 2013 will be announced this Tuesday, #SpeedwayFamily The channell that is covering the GPs this year will be announced on tuesday.
  11. How very sad. Seb Alden did a decent job in his time with us,scoring some good points and was part of the team that won last years 4TT.Infact wasnt it his ride that clinched the trophy. So Alden isnt with Berwick this year, big deal,I for one wish him all the best at Kings Lynn.
  12. Oh dont worry Ive got loads lined up,quicker that tv contract is signed the better.
  13. Congratulations to all at Newcastle Speedway.
  14. Will there be an idiots guide to this for those of us who are hard of understanding.
  15. Obviously its not going to be on Sky but its got to be live coverage for me,a highlights package days or weeks after the event wont be supported through viewing figures IMO.
  16. It`ll be "yawn" right enough this time next year if the Sky deal isnt renewed and theres no speedway atall.
  17. You think, over the last few seasons Ive went to Berwick and recorded the GPs.I normally avoid the scores and watch it late saturday night or first thing sunday morning,if the only GP coverage live will be through a link on here then theres a decent chance I`ll do that, and give Berwick a miss. Ive got Sky Im not likely to take out any extra subscriptions for ESPN or Premier Sports etc,Ive spoken to a couple of people who have already said they wont be going to Shielfield on a GP night for much the same reasons.
  18. Surprised and disappointed that Sky wont be showing the GPs,what chance now that the Sky deal for showing EL speedway will go the same way after this season.
  19. BERWICK Bandits Speedway are hoping to secure planning permission for extra practice sessions on the Shielfield Park track when staging national and international meetings. The club has submitted an application requesting permission for practice sessions for a maximum of two hours between 11.30am and 2.30pm on the Saturday of such a fixture. However, its application to Northumberland County Council states that it would be for a maximum of two times per season. The club held its first ever FIM (Grand Prix Qualifier) event last July which attracted a crowd of nearly 3,000 despite dreadful weather. Visitors and the speedway governing bodies were so impressed with the event that Shielfield has been awarded another international event in August and the possibility of a future national event. The club says that competitors in a national or international meeting must be given the chance to practise beforehand, especially as the majority will not have raced at Shielfield before. The club also stresses that the normal Saturday evening restrictions will be adhered to and that strictly no racing will be permitted during the practice session. Its application also points out that the event will bring business for accommodation providers. Taken from Berwick Advertiser on line.
