Nothing I've seen from the Oxford promotion makes me think they know they have a weak team. Of course they've got to be positive in public, but match reports & articles always suggest they had bad luck or just need to iron out issues / riders need track time.

Maybe once they've had their full 1-7 out & keep losing (if that happens) they'll look at strengthening up. But don't see anything happening soon.

How they cannot see how bad the team was before the season started is beyond belief, Tungate is just an awful signing and looks disinterested. Janowski was better recently but overall performance was awful.

It seems 99% of the fans on the Oxford fb page are against the change, plenty give good reasons such as Gusts is promising, hasn't had enough time, Cook is unreliable etc but they all seem to be missing a big point THE SPIRES HAVE LOST EVERY MATCH THIS SEASON.

Now if they were a mid-table side or just missed out on the play-offs, all of those reasons would have been valid, but Oxford couldn't afford to do nothing.

Quite a few also pointed out Tungate has been poor & should have been replaced with another heat leader instead - but none of them seem to realise there's no heat leaders out there willing to come over, otherwise Sheffield would have signed one. None of them were able to suggest a heat leader either.

Tungate hasnt scored many more than Gusts so why does he get given time. Cook is a decent replacement for Gusts but if they had a reasonable number one that would help more.

Yeah, top end strength is what they need plus they prob got the wrong RS as well.

As poor as Tungate has been he's still got a higher 2025 average than Gusts riding in a tougher position.

The team is stronger picking Tungate ahead of Gusts. If there is a 7+ rider willing to come over then Tungate could get dropped too.

There's riders out there at the right price...it's just that there's not enough money in the UK to sign said riders!

I don't think there is personally. I think riders have their schedules sorted and would only start flying over once other leagues finish.

Plus some Polish contracts can carry very severe penalties for missing meetings due to injuries sustained elsewhere...

They pay some huge six figure amounts up front before the season starts, so riders have to very carefully weigh up whether it is worth having to pay all that back should they get injured riding for just several grand a night elsewhere...

A genuine question because I’m curious, does Sweden pay more than what the UK does? It seems like Sweden have no issues attracting the top names and the travelling time is negligible if a UK side is offering to pay more…
