There used to be a few of us, who used to stand on the 2nd bend at that time. Right next to the bar. Some of us used to drink like a fish. After the meeting some of us would go to the bar on the home straight. Back then a lot of riders used to go in for a pint after the meeting. From there you could get in Champs night blub free. Was great times.

I though i saw wild Wayne there about 3 years ago, but i might of been mistaken. Can't recall, the "Nutter" character. Although 2 of us was from North Lynn.

Christ if you were on the old second bend you must remember nut he was a wirey sort closed cropped black hair from memory when Richard Knight would circle round he would come out of the bar and bellow "Richard Knight " at 20 thousand decibels about 8-10 times then he would head straight back into the bar and carry on sinking his pints I don't think he ever watched a single race, he had about 5-6 mates who used to drink with him mid 80's to early 90's was my time at Saddlebow.

SCB STATEMENT: BEN COOK

Tuesday July 15, 2025
scb.jpg
Kings Lynn Rider Ben Cook who has been competing for Leszno in the Polish League has reported that although he is able to compete in the Polish League he is not fit enough to compete for his British Club, therefore the Speedway Control Bureau have no option than to suspend his SCB Registration for a period of 28 days for breaching SCB Regulation 010.5 j).

During this period Kings Lynn will be granted a facility for Mr Cook's absence

Interesting that they've specified the regulation that was breached unlike the statement about Workington being docked 2 league points.

That will certainly teach him....

And, be a lesson for anyone else who may think about doing something similar...

I think we can all agree...

This type of thing won't happen again...:D

I assume he is racing on an Australian licence so no.
Which is a shame really. Another rider who has moved on from respecting Britain to using us. Mind you, I accept that, as a journeyman rider who has probably peaked, he has to maximise his income somehow.
He may well have been fined by Leszno for missing meetings - being injured in another league is no excuse in Poland  as Martin Vaculik found out when he broke his ankle at Swindon - but Britain lacks the strength to be able to do the same.

Cook will of earned more in Poland in one meeting than he would at Kings Lynn in a month so he'll hardly be bothered about being suspended.

Don’t think that is the point. We all know that.Should be stood down on medical grounds if not fit to ride all speedway tracks.Danger too other riders.!!

28 day ban in sufficient punishment. Weak . Very Weak.  If he is medically fit to  race then he is medically fit to race anywher. (He would not be insured if he continued to race against medical advice)

Should be given 7 days to race again in the UK for  his contracted side.  If he fails to do so , banned for the rest of the season in UK. This will prevent any other club signing him ( e.g. for the p.offs.) KL should be given a facility fo the rest of  the season.

If we have professional speedway in he UK they ought to start behaving like a professional governing body.
