From the reports Ace Pijper pulled up (slowed, at least) in Heat 12 whilst leading. How bad is that?

The lack of water the other day at Leicester just add another stupid reason why I have been to a home meeting yet this season. How can I be expected to treat british speedway seriously when they cant run a meeting properly? We could honestly list pages upon pages of the things british speedway cocks up every year and it makes me turn away from the sport more and more. It's so sad.

It’s not enough water being put on the tracks in the preceding days that’s the real problem but I dare say the ineffective watering during the meeting isn’t helping either.

I see BSN have Leicester v Kings Lynn scheduled for BSN Thursday, now who on earth did the scheduling for that when Sheffield are hosting Ipswich on the same day.

It was dusty from the first race yesterday and there was a problem with the bowser, with it being blocked with mud. I'm sure the promotion will learn from this, if it has never happened before. Despite this, there were some very good races, with heat 14 being the best race of the day. We have found the promotion and volunteers to be very polite and helpful every time we have visited. We paid more than anyone yesterday, as we had a cabin on the third bend and felt we received value for money even with a 120-mile round trip. If the stadium is on your doorstep, I suggest you go and support it, even with a few problems, because you will feel a lot worse when you have no team to support.

I can't speak for the club, as I'm no longer involved with the track prep, however I can tell you there are 6 drain pots on the infield,  I am aware that atleast 5 of them are piped to the 40ft container buried near the 2nd bend, each pot used to hold about 6000 ltrs,  couldn't tell you what the container holds, sure someone could work it out, but they will most likely be empty as there has been very little rain of late.

As for the pond outside, that is just tap fed, not great, it would take a good 24 hours to fill from empty. It's the same water feed that supplies the stadium, so when the public enter the stadium that tap has to be turned off, otherwise the toilets ect would not work.

For Thursday,  if it was me I would of had the tap on all day today, taken water from the pond and put it in the big tank,  do that for the next couple of days and it should be fine,  then you have a full pond plus tank, water the track from the tank during the day of the meeting,  then the pond at night time, if the pond is clear of silt and rubbish you should get 12 to 14 bowsers,  and probably 6 from the tank at guess.

I'm sure it's already been thought of so should be OK.

Leicester vs Kings Lynn is a more important match. Could go along way to decide which team makes the top 4. On the other hand Sheffield vs Ipswich has virtually nothing riding on it, whatever happens both teams will be in the play-offs.

Just to add a little to the thread about track watering. Many years ago I went to a meeting at Long Eaton that was called off on a nice sunny evening because the track was waterlogged. Not because of a cloud burst but because the track had been overwatered!

Similarly at Leicester a several years ago,when Lynn were there.There was a shower not long before the meeting which got it called off.Not because of the rain but because the track was over watered before the meeting even with the forecast of a heavy shower.

Exactly this, you’re making 90% of all league meetings irrelevant for the sake of 6 meetings at the end of the season.

And then make those six meetings also irrelevant as "ringers" from other teans get brought in on a "horses for courses" basis to replace injured riders....
