mikebv
Just now, Sir Sidney said: I suppose the other side to that is how many fewer will turn up to watch and how much revenue is lost as a result. I guess Nigel Tolley has done the calculations Those who still attend are pretty much "lifers" and will mainly turn up every meeting... And, with the end of the Brummies, maybe a few more of those who have drifted away from the early Tony Mole days will attend...? Plus, a few more away fans on a "last chance to see" mission could add a few dozen to the total.. I think he has probably spent enough over the years, so fair play to him for not spending more...

When the announcer starts reading out the crowd names and changes to the riders, you know it’s as low as it can get! 2
Mr Blobby
Honestly just shut the doors, they’d be better off than embarrassing themselves till the end of the year. Team wouldn’t even win the championship.

Pinny
Should never of been in the top tier in the first place. awful crowds and not helped by the muppets who run the sport in the UK by pretty much forcing them up. there is certainly no danger of ending the season on a high with these type of signings. the club is run as an absolute joke. Why did everyone know MJJ was only riding till May before the season started yet the club said idiot all about it, just like they did a while ago with the Adam Ellis signing. ever since Birmingham have came back around 2007 they have proved the crowds just arent there. They are national league standard. 6

Hackett
Barker signing is just like the Brummies have been for last two years "a token gesture" Feel sorry for the fans - the team looks a competitive Championship team.

bellevueace
Its sad to see another club disappear and fair play to Tolley for giving it a go and putting his money in but crowd levels have shown there is no appetite for speedway in Birmingham, crazy to think how many clubs have been lost just in London and the West Midlands alone. With the same old, same old, operating model being used.. I suppose if it was good enough for the 70's it is good enough for now, over fifty years later... An amazing concept.... During the boom years of the seventies no investment into the sport was made and so began the slow downward spiral that has led to the current situation.
stevebrum
Can’t see the Brummies winning another match but at least they have 7 riders. Just not Premiership level with that line up.

And the Sky money was over a million a year... For, was it 20 years? Some top names got to retire from the UK off the back off that... Before earning shed loads more in Poland...

Even that money was mismanaged, it was alleged (that as a thank you) the guy ( Russell) who arranged the Sky deal allegedly pocketed a large chunk of it every year whilst grass roots got bugger all.
GiveusaB
Would've been better off signing another 'Sam Hagon' if there is one? Give youth a bit of experience.... Barker's signing will only reduce attendance levels! This Tolley/Rogers combination is the most inept promotional set-up in the Clubs history...bar none! God help the next Club that they extinguish! 2

Good call. Should have thrown a curry at William Cairns, wouldn't have to had pay top dollar and may have put some bums on seats and given Cairns a taste of PL racing with zero pressure
