I don't know if anyone has travelled south of Wolverhampton on a train but there are acres of no longer used delict ex-industry sites (they're a stones throw from Monmore). But it probably doubles the cost of developing the land for other use if demolishing & disposing of waste in such areas than developing on green space. Petecc
So it's a sad farewell to speedway at Perry Barr. The local council/lease holders couldn't wait to get the bulldozers on site and have already erected a wall around the site to keep the travellers out. Will we ever see a return of the the red B or will it be left in history as what was a great sport. Although I wasn't a long time fan, I've had a few good years going there and working there and meeting many people whose club this was. To them this was their whole world, who spent many many hours and years trying to keep it going. In the end it just wasn't to be but, better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. So farewell brummies wherever you are until we meet next time around.

There's a huge difference between a stadium and derelict industrial land. 1 they will probably have other plans for it 2 if they were prepared to entertain the idea they'd want full commercial rates (see Perry Barr offer to Tolley to rent the whole stadium once the dogs were going) 3 there's no guarantee of the speedway being able to obtain planning consent which could tie the site up for many months with no guarantee of success
